Donyale Luna - ICON
Donyale is regarded as the first African American supermodel, way before Iman & Beverly Johnson. She graced British Vogue & was one of two black women to be apart of Andy Warhol's factory(the other being Pat Hartley). - Now if all that doesn't spell ICON, I don't know what does.
Tragically her outspoken love for LSD was her downfall and she died aged 34 in Italy in a clinic after a drug overdose.
I decided to recreate the above image, as it's black and white I could only guess what colours were used.

Another super look and I like the history lesson. I never knew about this lady. She sure was a stunner.
ReplyDelete@WorshipBlues, Aww thank you.
ReplyDeleteI didn't either until a few years ago and I was going through my Andy Warhol stage. She reminds me of the actress Pam Grier. xo
I feel like Beyonces 'why dont you love me' makeup was heavily inspired by her and this look in particular. She is a stunner if I ever did see one!
ReplyDelete@Imo, yes I agree with you there. The whole deep colour in the sockets very 1960s. Love it, need to perfect it more.
ReplyDeleteShe is definitely beautiful, she's a lost one in my eyes.
