Aaliyah " We Need A Resolution "

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Another inspired look today & this one is to coincide with the 9th Anniversary of Aaliyah's tragic passing. I took this look from the " We Need A Resolution " video. One of my favourite videos from her as you could tell she was really coming into her own with this album. I can still remember the day it happened and seeing it on MTV & how I cried like a baby. Got to love her R.I.P.

It's a very simple & easy look. I didn't have a grey/silver eyeliner pencil -(seeing as I threw it away, feeling it had no use a few months back) so I just used black eyeliner for the waterline & extended the blue right underneath instead of just having it in the corners.

Times Like This OCC Lip Tar Should Come Into Good Use - I need some in my life.

I look so frightened lol

Naked

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

THIS is how Urban Decay does neutral! Far from a group of boring beige shadows, this long, lean, seductive case is packed with TWELVE gorgeous neutrals. Shades range from delicate champagnes to dark, gritty gunmetal, and feature FIVE NEW shades with names like Darkhorse, Virgin and Buck. We’ve also included a range of textures: everything from glitter to shimmer to matte. -Urban Decay.

Rai @ Glam Morena was gracious enough to send me the palette as I wasn't in the mood to wait. I love me my nudes & browns and the smokey look "WOWZA!"

The palette covering is a chocolate brown with a velvet covering that feels ever so soft with NAKED embossed on the front in gold lettering.

The box has a magnetic closing which I always prefer with palettes, most the time I'm breaking nails opening stiff boxes lol.
Inside you have a mirror, always handy and underneath the words NAKED once again written in gold. I just love the look of it. Simple but the colour scheme is just me.

Also you get the new & improved UDPP 3.7ml ( Urban Decay Primer Potion ) thank goodness they ended up changing the stick for this I actually gave up buying it after realising the amount of product wasted.

Time For Swatches

- Now I know people have seen various blogs that already have swatches but I still feel it's important to show them because not everyone is the same skin tone ( as we know ) so what is more vibrant, visible etc on one person may not be the same on others.

Virgin looks like it could be a nice highlight colour for me. Naked for me is exactly that. Barely visible on my skin in most lighting.

I'm pretty satisfied with the palette to be honest, I think that if you do want a range of nude / brown colours this could be a great palette to have. It contains colours that you can wear during the day and then add to later on if you are going out.

Included with the palette is UD first Doubled Ended 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil :

Zero

Whiskey

This is my first time trying 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil and just the feeling from the swatch it lives up to the name it does glide, soft and creamy texture. I think depending on how it works on my eyes it may be a purchase I'll make for a full sized pencil eyeliner.

Do you think you will be buying UD Naked Palette ?

Donyale Luna - ICON

Monday, August 23, 2010

Donyale Luna is my FOTD inspiration today.

Donyale is regarded as the first African American supermodel, way before Iman & Beverly Johnson. She graced British Vogue & was one of two black women to be apart of Andy Warhol's factory(the other being Pat Hartley). - Now if all that doesn't spell ICON, I don't know what does.
Tragically her outspoken love for LSD was her downfall and she died aged 34 in Italy in a clinic after a drug overdose.

I decided to recreate the above image, as it's black and white I could only guess what colours were used.

Sunday, August 22, 2010

Hey darlings & new darling followers. I'm continuing my 'fall looks' this one is a FOTD, even though I didn't go anywhere it was starting to look like the rain was about to pour which it didn't so I turned to doing what this whole blog was about at the start of the journey Makeup.

I was also reminded today why I rarely do youtube videos:

    1. I am shy

    2. Editing

    3. I am shy

But more than ever it's the editing, I cannot stand you. - vent done.

Mini Lush Haul

Saturday, August 21, 2010

A lot of us love lush & I am one of them.
I'm embarking on a new skin routine. I am trying to use more natural products & ingredients & hoping for the best.

Mrs Whippy -(£2.50) & Babyface -(£4.10)

Lush describes Mrs Whippy :

Strawberry ice cream bath.
There is soya milk in the middle, so the water becomes extra softened when the ballistic fizzes down to the centre. It's a milk bath like Cleopatra used to have, and it's great for soothing skin after intense sunshine. Mrs. Whippy fizzes slowly, giving you a long-lasting soak and smooth skin.

I haven't used Mrs Whippy yet & cannot as I have to take it back to the store seeing as they decided to put it in the til as another Bath Ballistic "Sakura" & I am frugal to put it nicely lol so every penny counts. There have been enough reviews about this bath ballistic anyways so far it's a big positive.

Lush describes Babyface :
Tangerine oil
Four different kinds of butter.

Each smiling bar has four different natural plant butters in it to remove dirt and restore moisture. Its scent comes from toning tangerine oil and everlasting flower, which might grant you everlasting beauty.

Natural butter bar for effective cleansing.

Baby Face melts on the skin, so you can softly smooth it all over the bits that need cleansing (it’s an excellent make-up remover). It was made as a solid, preservative-free alternative to Ultrabland.
Cocoa, shea and avocado butters

This has been recommended to me over and over again and from reading various posts / forums not many people dislike this either the ingredients seem to come with good benefits that you want in a cleanser such as to remove dirt & restore moisture as my last routine started to leave my face drying out after cleansing eeek. Even when you touch it, it leaves your fingertips smooth.

Brazened Honey -(£4.95)

Turmeric and honey

Turmeric's active compounds brighten the complexion and have antioxidant properties. The honey is antibacterial, but is very softening at the same time.

Ginger

Ginger has a powerful antibacterial action. It is also thought to have an anti-inflammatory effect on irritated, blotchy skin

Whenever I smell it, I automatically think 'Pollen'. That's the scent I get from it. I find it to be an acquired smell! I'm always told of the benefits of Ginger, don't particularly like to drink it or to have a piece of it in my mouth when feeling unwell but it reaps skin benefits especially if you suffer from acne. I've read that tea tree is also good for inflammatory, nah uh not for me anyways.
Hence why I have now switched my routine - again.

Damn remember the days when skin was so much easier and not such a money burner. Mainly because those days we was still knee high to a grasshopper & everything was out of the pockets of others lol!

What are your Lush favourites ?

Garnier Rainforest Brown's : Golden Mahogany Brown

Friday, August 20, 2010

Upcoming change of season is rapidly approaching therefore I'm also looking for colour change. The past two weeks I've been looking for the Garnier Rainforest Brown's collection after seeing the commerical. I've come to notice it doesn't say the name on the boxes.
As I recognized Bar Refaeli on the front I knew it was the colour that I was after shade no #535 Golden Mahogany Brown.

The last time I coloured my hair was right before xmas and I was using Clairol 10 in light brown and since my roots have been coming through drastically I needed to have a colour change:

This was the colour before you can see the my natural hair colour & the previous hair colour which in retrospect it's not the original colour of the dye as my hair loves to do a lot of different shadings after sun exposure and washes so reality it's more multi-toned like so...

I prefer using créme mixtures because liquid dyes are horrendous in my opinion especially afterwards my hair never took well to liquid mixed dyes..I spent many months and pounds to fix my hair condition after using liquid mixed dyes and ask anyone close to me to know have known me long enough to seen the colours my hair has been lol you could imagine the damage.

This is my hair under flash lightening so you can see the colour a lot better. It looks similar to the previous colour but it's not, there are more red undertones in natural light. First time using Garnier hair colouring my hair doesn't feel as good as it does after using Clairol but it's not in a state at all, I washed it 2 days after the application again and it seems to be doing well enough. This is the start of my colour build up, I'm going to dye it 2-3x more in a 6-8week period to get my colour build up.
When I get the colour I want under natural light I will be happy :)

Do you change your hair colour with the season's ?

EOTD : Autumn Cherries

Friday, August 20, 2010

I have come to notice, I purchase & put down & I must stop. I have to learn to acquire the 'essentials' & splurge when necessary.

I need to go back to doing more EOTD like I was doing before. There's enough palettes of all sorts in my storage to do this. Got to get back into practising my passion.

Hervé Léger Fragrance For Avon FALL 2010

Friday, August 20, 2010

If you have seen various reports this year then you will already know that Fashion House Hervé Léger teamed up with AVON to release two scents for fall "Hervé Léger Femme and Hervé Léger Homme" & as you know I am preparing myself for fall & I am curious with this fall released scent.

"The bottles were designed to capture the iconic shape of the quintessential Hervé Léger dress, echoing the 'bandage' effect that makes the designs so distinctive," - Max Azria, chief designer for Hervé Léger and owner of parent company BCBG Max Azria Group

So what could we expect from the scents :

Femme is a woody floral with notes of sparkling Chinese magnolia flower, Sicilian pink grapefruit, Moroccan orange flower with honeywood, cypress wood and vanilla. (£20)

Homme is spicier, with notes of crisp Indian ginger, Japanese yuzu and amber. (£16)

I have acquired a few perfumes from AVON in the past & have never been disappointed. Knowing myself, I will order even though I keep telling myself I'm finished with splashing out.

Do you think you will purchase ? Do you already own AVON or other Celeb /Fashion Fragrances ?

August '10 Haul

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

Buy three items get two free, can't complain with that logic.
Now if memory serves for a short period of time this year I worked for K By Beverley Knight as a beauty consultant. I left due to the fact they cannot conduct business correctly and no-one really knew the stand was there, I managed to get people in because they knew me and they then noticed the stand so when I read the company has gone bust - didn't shock me.

Now with products at discount I decided to stock up before things are completely gone, after working with some of these products I already knew what I loved from what I wasn't 100% for, the Matt Primer I would recommend all the time as with the blushes -(which I didn't get this time round) & the red lipstick as I adore my reds.

Matt Primer, Lipstick In Cardinal

The model is wearing Cardinal & the red lip gloss on top, I never did see them on the website even though we had them in-store just before I left.

I do wonder if my monroe piercing will ever fully close

So what did I get free...well 'things' that I now must do some research on.

The first thing that needs no research is the Jemma Kidd Eye Wardrobe Colour Quartet In Brown

I've wanted to purchase some of her makeup as I've heard nothing but great reviews about it, so I feel fortunate enough to be get this product. 7 avaliable shades in the collection & I'm getting ready for fall these colours may do me nicely .

I got these Mario Badescu samples. Celebrities seem to love this skin care range. So I got the Alpha-Grapefruit Cleansing Lotion & Corrective Complex Emulsion . The website says:

Alpha-Grapefruit Cleansing Lotion

Benefits:
Minimize Fine Lines And Discoloration. The exfoliating powers of Citrus Extracts and the soothing nature of Aloe and Seaweed Extracts make this toner perfect for dull, dry and sensitive complexions. Citrus naturally breaks down pore congestion and dead skin cells for a healthy, refreshed glow. Also a solution for those suffering with pigmentation and discoloration of the skin. Alcohol free.

How to Use: Twice daily after cleansing, pat skin dry and apply lotion-dampened cotton to skin, wiping in an outward direction until cotton comes up clean. Avoid eye area. Follow with moisturizer or night cream.

Corrective Complex Emulsion

Benefits:
Our repair serum for smoothing fine lines, reducing minor discoloration and rough texture. A formulation of intense moisture ingredients and Alpha Hydroxy Acids make this gentle serum effective and non-irritating. Best when used daily or overnight under a nourishing, hydrating cream like Vitacel Moist Cream or Ceramide Complex With N.M.F. & A.H.A.

How to Use: After cleansing and toning apply 4-5 drops on face avoiding eye area. Follow with moisturizer or night cream. May be used twice daily.

Beauty Tip: Smooth 2-3 drops around lips before bed to soften the look of vertical lip lines. May also be used before lipstick.

Seeing as I'm embraking on a new skincare routine we'll see how these samples feel & take effect - if any. To see if I feel it worthy enough to purchase.

I guess Dr Sebagh is the 'King Of Botox' I believe from a report I just read, honestly never heard of him lol but there's always a first time to discover and learn.

Dr Sebagh Deep Exfoliating Sensitive Mask is a soft formulation mask for those not suited to the original formula.

Key Benefits:

* Removes dead skin cells from the upper layers of the skin.
* Minimises the potential irritation caused by AHAs.

It contains:

* Azelaic acid 1.6%.
* Lactic Acid 7.2%
* Dihydroavenanthramide D - An anti-inflammatory, anti-histamine ingredient that helps to reduce the potential irritation caused by AHAs

Well I will try the sample, on what area I can cover and see if I notice anything once again but I don't see me making any big splurges for awhile I'm finishing off Christmas shopping lmao. - I know I'm that damn anal.

Anyone purchased & /or tried these products or any from these ranges?
