I decided to enter the NYX Face Awards, something that I've consistently seen happening in the States, I thought, what the heck!? I decided to quickly do some bantu knots or Chiney Bumps if you're from Jamaica, like my nan said to me "Oh you got di chiney bump inna ya head" either name they turned out pretty well considering it's only the 3rd time I've done them, the hair respected me! If this look is anything to go by after the Marc Jacobs 'mini buns' backlash, I'd say there's a lot of cultural appreciation happening.

I wanted to do something I've wanted to do for a while and as I pondered for the past couple days what to do, while out Thursday morning it just hit me and I came home and got straight to it, besides the hair it took me about an hour and a bit to do and I loved it! When I can be more outside the box, it's so much more fun and I appreciate the love & support thus far from people.

For the first time I used the Stageline Sphere Eye shadows and I was surprised at how pigmented the eyeshadow was, I used it in the crease (the orange) and with the blending brush it still packed on quite a bit. I will do a separate post on these! The AVON Glow Bronzing Pearls has a rusty shade to it, which I liked as it gave me this burnt, red to the temple and I wanted things quite sharp on the cheeks.

Yello'. Yesterday I was surprised to see the next edition of TheVeganKind Beauty Box arrive. Vegan beauty products wahey! Let's just get straight into it.

Greenfrog Botanic Geranium and Peppermint Body Wash
Mmm. Fresh! Great for all skin types including sensitive skin. The botanical soap this is made from is sourced from the Himalayas, with organic aloe vera which is great to calm your skin from any irritation, Geranium which is cooling and peppermint which gives another fresh, cooling sensation. Definitely one for the morning.

Zk'in Skincare Deluxe Sample Pack
There's no parabens, no sulphates, no petrochemicals and no unnatural ingredients within the Zk'in range, they're cruelty free and vegan. The 4 sample sachets I received were, softening cream cleanser, line smoothing serum, rejuvenating moisturiser and a brightening & hydrating masque. I think I will give these a try tonight.

Sophyto Total Protection Serum
This serum has highly concentrated antioxidants to help the skin against environmental stress with green tea extract that helps against premature aging. Organic red grapes help to protect against sun damage. The serum carries a rich amber colour that comes from the level of EGCG's from the organic green tea & white tea, I have to say it smells like a lot of fruit when it's pumped out, quite pleasant.

Crazy Rumours HibisKiss Tinted Lip Balm
This smells like...fizzers or parma violets..maybe even love hearts..Listen it smells like sweets. Been a long time to differentiate but that smell is just so nostalgic. The lip balm is made with fine jojoba oil and shea butter and it's got a fragrant organic hibiscus flavour (that smells like retro sweets) The shade I got was Tropical which is a berry tone that gives off enough tint to be happy.

The Wild Witchery Gold Highlighter
Y'all saw me coming right? How they going to include a highlighter in this. Hello! Me lover of bronzers and highlighters, squealed like a pig at this. I've got a good few gold highlighters and so welcome Wild Witchery to the family. It comes in a lip balm screw bottom, it's handy to just pop into a make-up bag and go about yours. It glides on beautifully and will suit so many skin tones. Can be used on your cheeks, eyes, body and I'm sure this has a cocoa scent! Either that or I'm hungry.

TheVeganKind Beauty Box #3

I decided to purchase these for a Summer wedding last year and I had used the MAC Face & Body previously and noticed how quickly it separated. I was given the advice that I should put them in the fridge to keep it from breaking down so quickly. Great tip but who has a spare fridge to store their make-up in. As much as I loved their F&B at the time, I couldn't justify the investment. MUFE Face & Body kept coming up from other make-up artists as recommendations especially for Spring and Summer make-up and weddings. I ditched it and gambled with the MUFE Face & Body instead and I'm pretty glad I did.

The shades that I have in my kit are :
Colour: 6 Medium Beige-med skin dk pink/beige tone
Colour: 12 Caramel-dark skin yellow tone
Colour: 18 Camel-med-dk skin yellow tone
Colour: 24 Golden Beige-med-dk skin deep beige tone
Colour: 26 Dark Beige-med-dk skin beige tone
Colour: 38 Pink Porcelain-pale skin pink tone
Colour: 44 Coffee-dark skin red/yellow tone
Colour: 46 Cognac - dark skin beige tone
Colour: 48 Ebony-dark skin deep pink tone
- In the above picture they are in their number order to how I've written it so you know - Keep in mind their bottle numbers are not in chronological order to the shades tone, which is confusing. #3, #32 and #34 are shades I need to get 100% those will be more for those with a similar complexion to me.

- Shades go from yellow to pink
- Water-resistant
- Slightly dewy
- Pump
- Most shades will match skin-tone without mixing
- Doesn't transfer as much as other foundations I've used
- Colour range is good for medium to darker complexions
- Doesn't separate as quickly as its MAC counterpart
- Great for light to medium coverage
- Buildable for desired coverage
- So far seems to be good for most skin types.
It's so thin, it's a gel / water consistency so the bottle does need shaking up before use as it does separate but when it's just sitting around. Once shaken up, it's fine. You might get the odd gel ball. I use this with a beauty blender or the Real Techniques Buffing Brush lightly and then go over with the blender to smooth it out. You just get a smooth, light finish. Foundation isn't meant to mask the skin, any imperfections you feel you have, use concealer and pin point to cover them. What I adore about this is it allows skin to look like skin with a sexy, dewy finish. Even though I feel you can find a shade to match a skin-tone I did mix slightly when I used this the first time. My friend was a bridesmaid and I decided to use this on her, now she doesn't do the foundation thing, so for me it was perfect feedback. First day of Summer and it was hot. When mixing it needs to be mixed well and worked on the skin quickly as I find it does begin to dry quickly. It worked amazingly and she was happy, yesterday she said it made her want to add to her make-up now lol so if it's got a non wearer wanting to wear it, it's doing the job of being second skin. What made it even more better was that there was no SPF but I made sure the moisturiser and primer gave her skin the protection and there wasn't any issue.

- Glass bottle
- The smell
- Price
- Colour range doesn't offer that much for lighter complexions
The glass bottle I feel is a con because when it's in my case I keep thinking any drop, nudge, movement and these glass bottles knocking together is going to cause a break and heartache so far, anytime I've moved my make-up case about it's not happened just a warning for those butter fingers. I remember I kept being told about this smell, which did make me think any scents could cause irritation to skin and just a unpleasant feeling to anyone using it. I personally don't have any issue with the smell, it's not overpowering to me but it's just a word of warning to those smell sensitive. Per bottle it's £27.00 which could be a con for some. You get 50ml and I don't find much needs to be used and it's a dual product. The shades for lighter complexions don't seem to be as varied as for medium to darker complexions from what I've seen.

And now that MUFE has launched in Debenhams online and currently in the Oxford Street flagship store you can grab it easier if you're around there. For me it makes no difference shopping on Guru Emporium (where I did get these) or Debenhams. 50ml / £27.00

Make Up For Ever Face & Body.

The 90s revival has taken over the last couple years although it's still going strong it seems we're going back a little further the 70s / Boho Chic is coming back around. You'll go through stores and see a lot of floral print, flares, tassels and drop shoulder tops. Let's not forget the beauty side of it all! Nails Inc has got this sorted with three nail polishes that are from their Boho Luxe collection, your nails can have the boho festival vibe.
I decided to try Portobello Crescent and I wasn't disappointed it's a clear polish with flecks of a mix of peach, hot pink and grass green particles, put over a nude nail polish base, I just used a light pink. Others available are Primrose Hill Walk & Notting Hill Lane.

Portobello Crescent £15.00

Manicure Monday - Nails Inc. Portobello Crescent.

Late night scouring on eBay normally leads to purchases and last month that purchase was 16 lip 'glosses' / creams from M.N. Menow Generation II. Mainly the source of these lip glosses are from China, you can find them on Aliexpress, eBay and most likely Amazon too but the cheapest I've found has been on eBay (here), prices varied on aliexpress but none the less, I thought, I purchase one of these from other companies for at least £13 a pop so why not gamble order 16 and get my monies worth and some, at 99p or £1.00 for one (colours sometimes varied on the 1p difference) what could I really lose, besides £16 lol. There's not a great deal of variety with the shades, a lot of reds and pinks with different undertones. The colours I went for are numbered, no names so make up your own I suppose.
Finish : Matte
Size : 4.4ml

Good longevity - roughly 4-5 hours.
The Cost.

Hard to remove (might be a + too).
Can be sticky.
Cheap packaging (printing rubs off. Eh it's 99p).
I'd describe that this is a velvet matte liquid. The sponge applicator for these are thinner and longer than others of this nature. For me it doesn't make a difference but I know some prefer a longer stem to a shorter & vice versa.

Application :
I tend to leave my lips to near the end so I will always make sure there's no flakes or dryness. Keeping lips exfoliated gives lip products more life and chance.
Apply a lip balm before so the lips are moisturised.
Dab some off if there's any left by the time it gets to the lip stage.
If you feel you need a lip liner, apply one but with this applicator tip being smaller it always more control and also dispenses off the right amount on the sponge so you don't have to worry about getting too much on the tip.
Don't rub the lips together. Leave to dry for about a minute.

As it begins to dry matte there might be some dryness, I've read you can dab some lip balm onto the top but I've never experienced drying that's so uncomfortable for that need as the drying begins to wear off as the time goes on. My only issue might be that the when it dries, more so into the inner part of the lips it starts to crumble when the lip juice gets to it.

When I first got these I swatched them like I have below and they were on my arm for hours, upon going to the bathroom that night to wash - could I for the life of me get the bloody swatches off my arm? Elbow grease and body wash isn't industrial enough for this job. Use an oil based make-up remover or an oil (I used EVOO) to remove the lipstick and remove all traces of it.

To see how one of these look on the lips, see Wednesday's make-up post where I was wearing #16 on the lips

Sometimes you've got to think, can you complain much for what you get price wise?

I'd be happy enough to pay 99p or £1.00 for these, especially if they start to develop more of a colour range it'll be so much better as much as I love my red, pinks and purples having the option for more outlandish colours is always nice. The delivery from China was fast also being I ordered them on a Friday night and got them around 8-9 days later. and that was 7-8 days earlier than the estimated delivery date. No complaints here.

Do these take your interest? Have you tried these? Let me know below!

M.N. Menow Generation II Long Lasting Lip Gloss

I've been slacking on the make-up looks as of late but with some more lovely Esqido lashes in the lash drawer needing to be used I decided that it was important to share a look using them. I decided to start off with Lashmopolitan. I had not the slightest what kind of look to do and just winged it as I went, started off smokey but then I didn't want to pair it with the usual pale lip, so this purple was ideal to give a pop on the face.
These are full in volume, started off with a criss cross before going into a thicker long wing that gives an elaborate eye. Love the distinctive style of these. With lashes that are thick, you can tend to look tired and eyes droopy but I never experienced that with these in the slightest. These mink lashes are 3 - 16mm in length, easy to clean off afterwards and pop back into the box. Look out for the next look using more of the natural lashes you see on the left above.

Laid Back Silver Streak

By now you should know the two things besides make-up that I love our perfume & candles so when I was contacted by Birch & Brook London to review their candle I was more than happy to say, Yes Please! I know some people don't mind paying for a luxury candle but my trick with them is to burn them for roughly 5 - 10 minutes, blow them out and you'll have the aroma still around you in the room to relax you.

I was sent two candles their Library and also the Festival travel candle.

Library candle has oriental and woody notes:
Top Guaicwood, Patchouli
Heart Cinnamon, Clove Bud
Base Cedarwood, Moss

It's warm and and with the woody notes I can see why it's called library, burning this while reading a book on an afternoon or evening, especially like the time I'm writing this now, it's overcast but I can still see some of the sunset. Burning this next to me while typing this up, gives a feeling of wanting to be in a wood cabin ha! It's truly a beauty.
"A time-yellow page is turned; A clock ticks. Sunlight glances through a high window and another world calls...."

Moving onto the travel candle, Festival. Probably my favourite out of the two if I was to pick. My goodness, more and more of this please.
Festival candle has floral and woody notes:
Top Bergamot, Lily, Mandarin
Heart Patchouli, Rose, Orange Blossom, Jasmine
Base Vanilla, Sandalwood, Amber, Musk, Leather

Flipping beautiful. I love to burn candles all year round, yes it's more cosy in the later months of the year but it can't be faulted to use this one whenever and to even burn this during an evening get together outside with friends and having this burning. It'll put everyone in a relaxed vibe. Who knew a candle could smell so divine.
"Rich, exotic scents drift over sun-warmed grass. Tassels and features rustle in the wind as Hedonism beckons."

Have you tried Birch & Brook candles before?

Today is International "No Socks Day" and while I've read there are health benefits to walking barefoot we better make sure our feet are in tip-top condition for this to begin with and this is where Scholl comes into play. You may or may not know that last year I was 1 of 5 bloggers chosen to be featured in a Scholl advertisement for their Velvet Smooth Pedi Foot File last year and I've converted people close to me into getting one and they haven't looked back. With it being No Socks Day, Summer is also just around the corner.

This is how I like to do mine :
Start off with a dry but clean foot. I do mine before a foot soak because I find that it's that effective the skin doesn't need to be soaked and then dried, you can just wipe the foot with a wipe and proceed to buff the foot. There are different replacement heads, this is the original or you can choose the twin pack with extra coarse and soft touch. I do my feet weekly but I wanted to see the difference in the roller heads to the original that comes with the Pedi foot file.

Once the foot has been buffed, gently. Be careful not to stay on one section of skin for too long because the skin is delicate and it will be sore so keep the file moving and watch all that dust fly off. If you have a electronic foot soak or even just run the bath enough for your foot to be covered, pour 15ml of the Scholl Velvet Smooth Foot Soak into the water and allow your feet to be cleansed and softened up even more for 15 minutes. Dry the feet, making sure to dry in between the toes (imporant!).

Follow up with the Scholl Velvet Smooth Intense Serum which will leave the foot cool and and prevent any drying. Just before going to bed, I like to pop on some cotton socks with the Scholl Velvet Smooth Night Mask that'll help to stimulate cell re-growth and in the morning the feet will be smooth and ready for being barefoot beautiful.

Are you ready to walk barefoot with me?

No Socks Day with Scholl.

This months The Vegan Kind box is full of new brands and a Panda friendly toothbrush.

I first tried the Sarelle Hazelnut & Dark Chocolate Cream Filled Wafer I love nuts in chocolate so I was excited to try this and I wasn't disappointed it was soft but slighty crunchy with the dark chocolate it added richness to this little snack. Good Full Stop Fruit & Nut Based Mint Chocolate Bar a blend of crushed dates, raisins and cashew nuts with natural date syrup, dark Belgian chocolate with an infusion of natural essences and fruit pieces. I'm not a fan of dates so I'm passing this one onto my nan to munch on but for those who do like the sound of this bar, it'll be good for an in between meals snack. The Chika's Chilli Plantain Crisps were demolished by me, nice and crunchy, can taste the plantains while the chilli blend is just right making these sooooo moreish. Taking The Pea Sweet Chilli Salsa crunchy marrowfat peas flavoured with sweet chilli salsa, no mushy peas like some of us dreaded on our plates but a nice snack to pass around and share. Olive Branch Mezze Sundried Tomato Paste always handy to spread onto dough and more as a nice tomato base, make your own pizza, in the box this month there's a recipe to use the paste as an idea as a pizza fiend, this will be nice to eat on a piece of bruschetta. Lastly it's the Ecobamboo Toothbrush I needed another toothbrush soon so this comes just in time, it's made by moso bamboo which isn't eaten by Pandas so their snacks haven't been taken away to make this. The environmental issue surrounding toothbrushes have been taking into consideration with the fact of how long it takes a plastic toothbrush to break down, it can take hundreds of years. The packaging and brush itself is 100% biodegradable made of plant fibre. So cute and environment friendly.

As soon as I spray Valeur Absolue Confiance onto the skin and it's taken into the air the aroma of warmness is taken in and it makes me think sexy, romance and one for a date night. Which is great as it's aim is to boost a woman's self-confidence. It's woody, oriental and fruity. I find once it settles it's almost musky and the vanilla scent seeps through more.

"The top notes are spicy with clove and cinnamon.
The exceptionally gentle heart blends the deliciousness of candied peach with the enveloping tones of amber.
The base notes offer an intense and reassuring trail of Bourbon vanilla and cedarwood.

This fragrance also brings well-being as well as fragrance the vanilla is naturally organic from Madagascar, the scent of which has beneficial properties and is used in hospitals for premature babies and people suffering from claustrophia.
Calcium and potassium which help to re-establish balance and serenity. Areaumat Perpetua™, is a natural extract of the Immortelle flower, which stimulates the production of beta-endorphins, the ‘well-being’ molecules.

The second fragrance is their Valeur Absolue Sérénitude described as a floral, woody perfume. The aim for this fragrance is to bring radiant happiness, serenity and tranquility.

"The fragrance opens with spicy top notes of pink berry, cardamom, nutmeg and bergamot of Calabre.
The creamy heart blends the infinite softness of natural rose with sparkling notes of coriander seeds.
The base notes create a warm, soothing trail of Sandalwood and Patchouli tones.

I don't smell much of the floral in this as I do the spice. The spice I find for me is very evident as it begins to settle onto the skin but I would of loved to of smelt more of the combination for my senses. If you enjoy spicy scents this is a good one for you but otherwise I would say to test in store.

The well-being aspect from Sérénitude are essential oils of sandalwood from Australia and patchouli from Indonesia. Manganese and Potassium which helps to re-establish balance and serenity.

All Valeur Absolue fragrance contain real semi-precious carnelian stones, which Egyptians believed had protective powers, to keep negative thoughts at bay, restoring concentration and love of life.
These stones adds something different to these bottles each time. With the stones being different shades in each bottle it makes them more distinctive and they look gorgeous among other perfumes and even together, you might remember the Sensualité I reviewed last year, such a beautiful scent and I'm glad I practically bathed in it to say it's now gone, so the fragrances are worth it but try before you buy if you're unsure but you or others around won't be disappointed.
