YSL Pure Shots Night Reboot Serum & Hydra Bounce Essence-In-Lotion Review

YSL has had a reboot in terms of their skincare range.
The Forever range has mostly been discontinued and made way for Pure Shots.

Pure shots

Mixed range of 4 serums, a cream and an essence. One of the best features about this range is 5 of the items are refillable. Which means less cost and less waste for the environment. The first product I have used from the range is Pure Shots – Night Reboot Serum. This serum is to help smooth, hydrate and soften, with 3.4% glycolic acid which is quite a low percentage. Moonlight cactus flower extract (it only blooms for only 6 hours every year!!) during it’s blooming process it releases sugar, this is then taken and through a cold and slow extraction process, the ingredients helps to repair and protect skin cells to reactive skin regeneration, making the skin smoother and more luminous.

Night Reboot Serum

It’s suitable for all skin types including sensitive – which is probably good for the low percentage of glycolic acid – over time even the most sensitive will gain benefit from this serum (don’t forget your SPF the next day, glycolic acid can make skin more sensitive to UV rays. The exfoliating-in-oil formulation (which you must shake before use) helps to exfoliate while smooth and refine the skin.
Upon my first night of usage, I did my normal skincare routine but swapped my normal serum for this night time serum. I had no reaction, it’s very light weight and the skin absorbs it nicely. Being so lightweight in texture it makes it easier for me to layer my skincare, which for me that's important. The next morning my face was so smooth and soft, more so than usual – I was even more sold on the serum that I’ve continued to use it and fall in love daily. I think this one will be in my skincare routine for a long time. In the morning I use either Lancôme Genifique serum or The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid. The range is simple and effective.

Hydra Bounce Essence-In-Lotion

For those of you that don't know what an essence-in-lotion is, it's a K-beauty treatment that contains a concentrated formula in a lotion texture. The benefits are similar to that of a serum and they have a lower molecular weight than most creams. Essence-in-lotions work to penetrate the skin most deeper than your moisturiser. I now see the added benefit of adding an essence, as a lot of them add hydration to the skin so it's perfect after double cleaning and toning to use this product. It's a very watery texture so you do have to be careful as you don't want to waste any product. Another tip - get rid of the cotton pads. They'll absorb more product than you'll be applying. Apply a few drops into the palm of your clean hands and press on, don't drag or rub - gently press!

YSL Pure Shots Hydra Bounce has 3 key points: Hydrating, Smoothing and Plumping. It contains Orange Blossom Extract from Morocco combined with Vitamins E and B3. The form of B3 is Niacinamide, which helps manage acne, rosacea, wrinkles and pigmentation issues (which is me!). It's very lightly fragranced but I can tell it's due to the natural ingredients. YSL skincare is freeing itself from any nasties preservatives in their skincare, therefore if that's an issue for you - fear no more! I recommended this to a friend of mine - who is absolutely in love with this, even she said to me she feels how soft and glowly her face is. I love how smooth my face feels afterwards, yes it seems like it's another step in your skincare routine but I'd advise everyone to try an essence at least once and see how it benefits your skin. There are so many essence-in-lotion's on the market so it's important to find one that suits your skin concerns.
