The CBD market has become one of the fastest-growing in the world & this is due to the influence of celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow who take it to cope with stress and Alessandra Ambrosio takes it for anxiety. CBD is a non-intoxicating component of hemp plants. Extracted as a powder and mixed with oils to enhance its application and effectiveness. CBD does not contain THC which is the mind-altering property that gets people high. CBD is extracted from the stems and stalks of the hemp plant. The THC is exceptionally low that it often cannot be detected even by testing equipment.
Gwyneth Paltrow, dubbed CBD ‘the hero ingredient of the future' in 2020 global CBD sales valued at 9.3bn, 40% was North America but Europe is begining to take note and closing the gap at 31%. There are so many ways to get the benefits of CBD, drinks, gummies, dropper oil, salts, bath bombs but I think the easiest way would be through skincare, especially for those wanting to dip their toes into using the ingredient. I have used CBD oil drops to help with anxiety and joint pain as I suffer with an on-going ankle & knee injury that flares up from time to time. CBD skincare benefits can include wrinkles free skin, signs of ageing and acne-prone skin but does it truly work?
Why choose CBD in Skincare?
Cannabidiol (CBD) sourced from hemp (Cannabis Sativa) stalks and stems. Rich in cannabinoids it helps restore balance in the body. Hemp seed oil is an omega-rich oil sourced from the seeds of the hemp plant, they don’t contain cannabinoid and normally only contain trace amounts of CBD. Being that CBD spreads reactivity in the skin by telling your skin to become calmer, especially if you’re suffering from redness, dullness and textured skin. If you suffer from acne-prone skin, it can be inflamed, uncomfortable and CBD can help to reduce breakouts and redness related to this as it’ll help to soothe and calm the skin. Research has shown that it can decrease excess sebum production, possibly helping to balance the skins natural oil production. Wrinkles & skin ageing – as the plant has antioxidant properties, the use of CBD topically can help lessen the signs of ageing by counteracting the free-radical damage.About EthicaCBD
A brand developed from issues faced by one of the founder’s Olivier when dealing with Ankylosing Spondylitis (debilitating autoimmune disease that brings severe back pain and muscle inflammation). Oli had looked into CBD but became frustrated by the inferior products available in an abundance. Therefore, he set about developing EthicaCBD with one end goal in mind – to offer the best CBD products on the market, placing an uncompromising emphasis on quality. How to use cbd oil for skin
I was kindly sent two products from EthicaCBD: CBD Infused Facial Scrub [Cleanse & Smooth] and CBD Infused Night Cream – Nourish & Restore. Which I have been using for the past few weeks. My skin benefits from exfoliation, CBD Infused Facial Scrub gives you a brighter and more radiant complexion. Infused with plum seed powder, a naturally fine abrasive easily absorbed by the skin. Hemp seed oil is nourishing and antibacterial to leave the skin clear & blemish-free. This scrub exfoliates without sucking out the moisture. CBD Infused Night Cream formulated with sesame, hazelnut, shea & hemp seed oils draw in moisture for tired skin, the combination gives a powerful blend to improve elasticity while you sleep, so your skin feels and looks refreshed, moisturised and restored in the AM.My Experience
The scrub is non-abrasive and creamy - you can even see the texture which does a good job of helping remove any left-over make-up, dirt and grime from throughout the day (I've even been using this on my chest). It's a soft scrub that you barely notice the 'grit', my face is left plump, fresh and awake. Even if you have sensitive/dry skin you can use this and benefit. Since using this my skin has had no congestion which can happens a lot during the warmer months and with wearing masks too, preventing maskne is a must. Key ingredients include: Sesame seed oil, Shea Butter, Plum Seed Powder, Hemp Seed Oil and Jojoba Oil. These ingredients together give a combination of Vitamins A, B, D & E, while healing damaged skin, preventing the bacteria related to blackhead and acne and leaving your skin soft, soothed and improved barriers.
The night cream is rich but not heavy. I've noticed a difference in the morning since I began using this. I started when we was having good weather & even while wearing SPF, my skin was feeling dried out due to the heat. It needed nourishment & I've found that with this, at first my skin was going through it but with continued use it's benefited greatly. It contains 3 of the key ingredients as the scrub with 2 others being Hazelnut Oil, a natural alcohol-free astringent, that'll help dry-oily skin (me right now, thanks to the sun), shrink pores, cleanse and removes bacteria, high in Vitamin E & fatty acids that'll improve the skins elasticity. Aloe Vera Leaf Powder an antioxidant with vitamin C, amino acids that soothes, moisturises & protects.
These sound great products to use, I do love finding and trying new skincare products and do love a good moisturiser especially as my skin is ageing
