Gillette Venus for Pubic Hair & Skin Range

PUBIC SERVICE ANNOUCEMENT

Whether you wax or shave, removing hair from the pubic area, seems to have so much taboo around it. Us being able to speak about it and use correct terms without stigma or shame - needs to STOP! This is what I look about the new Venus range. Where their #FreeTheVulva seems to give some people a shock moment. I for one have no shame in speaking on this and for years while blogging have shared various posts on waxing, shaving & DIY Vajacials.

Venus for Pubic Hair & Skin is a 4 piece range (5 including the 4 head razor replacement pack) that has been specifically designed and tested by Dermatologist and Gynecologist. It's all fragrance and dye free - eliminating chances of irritation, burns or kicking the pH balance out of control.

Venus For Pubic Hair & Skin Women's Razor

Designed specifically for the pubic area and to help protect the skin from irritation. It has a ‘Irritation Defense Bar’ with blades that are spaced out than rather close together to cut the hair without barely touching the skin. The razor head is specifically small with a precision trimmer on the back of the blades to help reach those awkward areas. The razor itself is light weighted but has a rubber-like grip for control while in the bath/shower.

Venus for Pubic Hair & Skin, Skin-Smoothing Exfoliant

You want to prep the skin - whatever you're doing - prep that bikini line. Exfoliating is the best way and not just beforehand, exfoliate every other day to keep from getting razor bumps, ingrown hairs and irritation. Be gentle and exfoliate in circular motions. My hair is coarse so I prefer to use it alongside exfoliating gloves to really make sure that I'm lifting any hair and loosing up the skin. I make sure that I soak in the bath for a while as it's better to let the skin sit in a warm and wet enviornment which allows for your skin and hair to soften and open the hair follicles making it easier for a closer shave and less chances for that next-day stubble.

Venus for Pubic Hair & Skin 2-in-1 Cleanser + Shave Gel

I’m guilty of using anything from soap, to conditioner (which isn’t a bad alternative) for the opportunity to soften the hair and make the blade glade a lot easier. But dermatologists will most likely tell us, it’s more beneficial to use an actual shaving gel. As these products are created with typical emollients that will help to lessen the risk of irritation. This particular gel, 100% soap free with a translucent formula giving us a safe guide in where we are shaving. But it also doubles up as a daily cleanser, to help remove any residue and to keep the area clean and free of irritation – basically we are treating our bikini line and vulva just like we would our face.

Venus for Pubic Hair & Skin, Daily Soothing Serum

So just like we would our face, we want to keep it hydrated, free of irritation and just because nobody is seeing our pubic area as much as we would, it doesn’t mean we need to neglect it [prevention is better than cure - & cheaper]. A daily serum is a brilliant idea to have as this one can be used after shaving or daily to reduce itching and maintain the hydration we desire and need. It’s a natural thing that when that hair starts poking back through and the- skins being rubbed against clothing, irritation is bound to happen and it leads to ingrown hairs and dark marks, do I need to continue. This serum has lactic acid that helps to keep the build up of dead skin cells, those help trap the new growth leading to painful ingrown.

I'd recommend at least trying the range to see if you benefit from the formula and routine to get a better shaving experience. Like anything it really is all about preperation and taking extra care with your routine. It's not a 10 minute routine and done until the next week. Think of your vulva as that other head that needs TLC!

What do we think of this new range? Intrested, already tried or do you have an alternative method of removing your pubic hair?

  3. I didn't realise there were so many different products available for that area. It is good to be aware of what you can buy specifically for this.

  4. I've not come across this range before but it sounds a very good idea as it is such a sensitive area to shave.
