Virtual Galentine's Day Ideas

What is Galentine's Day?

Leslie Knope, the Parks and Recreation TV show character who invented the holiday in 2010, describes it best:
“Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies.”

But this year, it’s going to be a hell of a lot different. Like everything else this past year – it’s virtual. Instead of sitting in your zoom or teams’ meetings wearing a smart top but your comfy loungewear bottoms, complete your outfit and have a pyjamas or loungewear party with sheet masks, cocktails – mines a pornstar martini, if you’re offering. Whatever you babes, want to do…

Here are some ideas that could make your virtual Galentine’s Day one for the ages.

1. Virtual Talent Show

Think along the lines of Britain’s Got Talent meets Strictly Come Dancing – anything that you want to showcase talent wise, you could all make ranking cards – sing, dance, poetry, whatever comes to mind and you can all rank each other and have a laugh Highest score wins.

2. Order a take-away & have a movie night

Order in your favourite food or make your own dish and just have a chill-out session with your girls snuggled up on your own sofas. With Mean Girls heading to Netflix UK on Feb 1st, what could be more fetch to watch?

3. PowerPoint Party

These over the last year have become really popular. I first saw this on Bustle - How to Throw A Zoom PowerPoint Party with Your Friends. TBH, it looks like a lot of fun. You all have a chosen topic each, a couple PowerPoint party ideas could be comparing your friends, and why to certain Beyoncé or Rihanna songs, ranking public figures from history to present day who could definitely get it or hottest fictional characters. Give yourself a couple weeks to get your presentation togeter and you can vote on whose is the most funniest or outragous.

4. Ask each other questions

Sometimes we all need a conversation starter or questions we’ve never thought about asking but it’s a great way to share & get to know each other even better. It can be used for Galentine’s Day or Valentine’s Day, there are cards to purchase from Amazon or you could make them up yourselves and each take turns answering the questions –questions can range from “What’s your ultimate deal breaker” to “If you could wake up tomorrow speaking a foreign language fluently, what would it be?”

5. Play BFF trivia

Each friend writes 10 questions about themselves with 4 multiple choice answers for each question. Ask each other the questions and write down your answers. When finished asking questions tally up who got the most questions right.

Don't look at these just as Galentine's Day, they can be simple Valentines Day ideas too. What ideas would you do?
