Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Extreme
To describe my hair currently, stressful. It's low in porosity, meaning that it doesn't absorb water or moisture easily, once I apply product it sits on top of my hair, leading to the air just helping it to vanish as soon as the cold air is exposed to it. The Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Extreme is specifically formulated for African-Caribbean or Caucasian hair that is exceptionally processed and damaged, this product provides instant replenishment, hydration and nourishment. Everyone knows of Elasticizer but the extreme has higher active doses of the components. It's fragrance free but it's not suitable for fine, non processed hair. Most of us know the Elasticizer came around because Philip Kingsley made the concoction for Audrey Hepburn. It's a very deep conditioner that is applied before your shampoo, it's a pre-poo. It's deeply hydrating and my curls need it, especially the ends.
I like to up the ante with haircare for winter, although I tend to now do protective hairstyles instead such as braids and buns more often the hair still needs to be in great condition, applying this on warm damp hair before shampoo from mid length to the ends - really concentrating on the tips. I let it sit in a shower cap for about 20 minutes before rinsing out and cleansing my hair and continuing my hair routine. My ends are a lot more conditioned and defined - not to forget soft. Even if you get a small sample tube like the one above - you won't be disappointed if you've got hair issues.

Winter is so hard on everything, especially hair and skin, drying it out so much. It's fantastic if you can find excellent products that work for your particular type of hair and skin type!
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%. Winter is a pain and a lot of us struggle. My ends needed this during the colder months for certain.
DeleteHaving never tried the original of this I'm feeling somewhat behind the times. I feel like it's a cult product that I should try at some point, my hair is treated through highlights etc so it could be beneficial.
ReplyDeleteIt is a cult product. I've tried both and I definitely prefer the extreme version, I can't say I noticed a difference in texture as in the extreme is more thicker but my hair benefits more!
DeleteI may need to try this. My hair is quite damaged from having highlighted it since 15 year old. That's over ten years of bleach - eek!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of years and this would be amazing help to keep the hair soft and strong.
DeleteThis looks great. My hair is badly damaged and I'm always looking for good stuff to put on it x
ReplyDeleteThis would be your new best friend - guaranteed x
DeleteThis sounds like a great product. I have heard good things about the philip kingsley range!
ReplyDeleteIt's a brilliant range without a doubt, I'd never mind exploring more for my hair type from Philip Kingsley.
DeleteMy hair gets all dry and damaged in winter, this looks like a great product I would love to try it out. It is nice to hear from people who have tried a good product and recomend it as there are SOOOO many nowadays it is very hard to know what works and what does not! Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Evija. Yeah the cold just sucks out all that moisture from the hair - due to my hair type product also just sits on my hair shaft and disappears as soon as the cold hits lol.
DeleteI'm going to recommend my sister try this product out. She has the curliest natural hair, and has used products designed for Afro-Caribbean hair for years. Winter is just harsh for everyone - I'm particularly suffering this year with dryness
ReplyDeleteWinter is harsh for everyone. Skin and hair, products need to be rich and thick but kind of layered on too.
DeleteWinter has been so tough on my skin, especially with being pregnant too. So I need something like this.
ReplyDeleteI could understand that, this would be great for the hair to bring it back to life.
DeleteSounds like a great product for my over treated afro hair, I have not tried the elasticizer before but would love to soon
ReplyDeleteOh I think your hair would love it so much.
DeleteI havent tried the extreme version but I do love Elasticizer, such a good product and such an amazing price x
ReplyDeleteElasticizer I always need to revert back to it for my hairs savior.
DeleteI have actually got a sample of this but not yet used it, as was a bit unsure how to properly.
ReplyDeleteUse it before the shampoo and it'll help your hair a lot.
DeleteThis would be perfect for my hair as I colour and straighten it so a bit of added moist would be great.
ReplyDeleteThis would help strengthen it and being back that elasticity needed.
DeleteMy hair is so dry at the moment due to excessive colouring over the years so this sounds perfect for me x
ReplyDeleteI found this product helped my hair while it was bleached so definitely try if you can x
DeleteI love this! 😍 Not tried the extreme version but notice it is good for detangling, giving thin hair more fullness and keeps in just-out-the-hairdresser condition! Was so glad when my mum introduced me to it x
ReplyDeleteAh I'm so glad this worked for you. I dot even see it as a luxury product anymore it's more than an necessity ♥
DeleteMy mummy's hair is super thick and feels like straw so she could do with this 'Pre-Poo' ;) She'll try and hunt it down!
ReplyDeleteOh dear! She sounds like she can do with some of this.
DeleteI have so many of these in sample size but have never got round to trying them out yet x
ReplyDeleteAh lucky you, you'll love it once you've used, I need to get me a new pot ASAP!
DeleteThis looks like such a great product. I will have to hunt some down.
ReplyDeleteGood for the hair, as it's so moisturising as well brings hair back to life.
DeleteFortunAtely my hair seems better in winter than in summer. It doesn't like the heat.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, you're one of the lucky ones who has the roles reversed.
DeleteI've been using the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer for years now and love it! x
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you, it's an excellent product x
DeleteMy hair always gets dryer in the winter, it is so annoying! This looks like a fab product to tackle the effects of this weather!
ReplyDeleteYeah central heating and dry air just dries the hair out, sucks!
DeleteI tried it in the past but I don't think I was using it right because it didn't do much for my hair. Love to give it a go again though and see if it makes a difference.
ReplyDeleteI think that's the problem with some people using it. Just do it before the shampoo and leave it on for about 10 minutes and rinse out but with continuous usage you'll be better for it.
DeleteLovely post LaaLaa. I've got a couple of samples of the regular version recently, it's been too long since I had a stash of the extreme version on hand! I definitely need to pick this up again soon x
ReplyDeleteYasss, you know how great this is too. I definitely need a jumbo bottle on hand x
DeleteOoh this sounds amazing, I've used the Elasticizer in the past but the Extreme one sounds even better! xo
ReplyDeletehttp://rachelnicole.co.uk/
Haha, definitely it is. I would always use the extreme over the original for my hair xo
DeleteI would love to try this product. Sounds amazing.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely is, think it's great especially for transitioning too.
DeleteWinter is so harsh on my hair and skin. I just had all my hair cut short again because my ends were beyond rescue. Perhaps I need to consider something like this for my hair.
ReplyDeleteOh no!!! Yes, just do a lot of deep conditioning and try limit heat that should help your hair a lot more.
DeleteI think I'm quite lucky because I just bundle my hair up and it doesn't seem to damage easily!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely lucky, wish my hair could do that lol.
DeleteI have tried the original one but it didn't seem to do much for my hair because it's so curly and dry, so I think I'm definitely going to try this one and see how it fairs x

ReplyDeleteAlways worth a try, I got on okay with the original but I do like the extreme version more x
