The Fortune Box - Wish Trend

Fortune Box $29.99 (sold out)*

Wishtrend were so lovely to send this box to have an inital review by me. To celebrate the Lunar New Year in Korea, this box was beaming red. In the UK if you have seen the HSBC tv advert, you will notice that in China they give red envelopes to give fortune for the new year and other Asian cultures do so too.

The card, the red tissue paper, even down to the drawstring in the bag was red. Let me also note the fortunate cookie included was a nice touch and my first fortune cookie & DELICIOUS, even though I did share half with my nan lol :) sharing is caring.

My initial review on this box overall is - wow. Each product within this box had me wanting to use them all up. These are 2012 best selling products included within this box are : -

OST Original Pure Vitamin C 20 Serum  It has the fastest effect with Vitamin C, which is pure at 20%. Whitening, recovering troubled scars and removes blackheads. I keep getting blackheads on my nose, which is something that annoys me, ugh. With this I'm excited to use this on them to see if I can make this a favourite of 2013.

SKINMISO Pore beauty nose pack Another blast the blackheads away product. This is a 3 step product, remove the blackheads, shrink your pores and control the oil. This packet only contains step 1 + 2 which doesn't bother me as I have plenty of oil control moisturisers.

CAOLION Pore Minimizing Pack & Blackhead Steam Pore Pack Helping to minimize pores and soothe skin troubles while delivering nutrition and moisture to the skin. Both these pack are aimed at those with pore and blackhead problems.

SKIN&LAB K plus Red-X  I suffer from redness around my nose area, Vitamin K helps to remove redness while also helping under eyes brighter, more radiant and helping the appearance of dark circles. Vitamin K is the key ingredient within this.

KLAIR'S Rich Moist Soothing Cream alcohol, paraben, artificial colouring free, no animal testing and eco friendly. This is listed as a 'magical cream' that instantly makes the skin feel softer. I must admit I did decided to use this for a few days to see how my skin reacted and this gave me a smooth, silky base was a pleasure to touch, especially on the drier areas that have appeared on my face.

CONFUME Argan Treatment Oil The oil of the moment that's been making waves, Argan. The sample sachet has yet to be used, I'm going to use it within my next shampoo wash, to give my hair a boost after the clarifying process.

It's rare I receive a box and I'm looking forward to using everything. The Vitamin C and Vitamin K products sound promising and useful with the weather playing havoc with itself and my skin. Having these blackhead sachets will be handy for when these troubled moments arise. I need to set aside a pamper evening and try these ASAP. I will review them once this has happened. The full sized products value to more than the boxes worth. All in all this was a fantastic box. Unfortunately this box is no longer available but bookmark and keep an eye out for any other boxes that will be available here, it sold out ever so quickly.

Get Fit, Feel Epic!

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Image Souce via Tumblr
MoneySupermarket.com can help you save money and with Get Fit, Feel Epic, calculate how much you indulge in unhealthy options, such as junk food, alcohol, cigarettes etc and see how much more you can save by cutting back or even better quitting. The Get Fit, Feel Epic Giveaway will give someone a chance to gain a boost to their workout and lifestyle change and Sandra of The Black Peal Blog is one of the judges, here's my entry for her.

I've battled my weight for 4 years now, prior to getting pregnant and then suffering from depression and anxiety I was very active, during school I loved sports, I averaged a U.K. size 10 top - 12 bottom and was around 9½ stone, my lowest was 8 stone in 2007 when I was doing bar work, I went down to a size 8, I was unhappy at that weight and size. After the ectopic pregnancy, depression and anxiety set in, the weight piled on as I wasn't active, I comfort ate - just because I'm a vegetarian it doesn't equal lean. I remember I was at counselling and I was waiting to use the bathroom and one woman said to me, "You can go before me, I know what it's like when pregnant!" - I was like, yeah thanks I will go before you and btw I'm not pregnant, I've just got a few extra lbs!

So now I'm at a size 16 and at my most heaviest & being that I do find it hard to group socialise, being in crowds 8/ 10 can bring on an attack and  when panic attacks strike at any moment it has been hard to find group indoor activities I find enjoyable. I'm 5'5 and some inches nearing 5'6 and I weigh nearly 13 stone, I feel uncomfortable most days. People have often suggested that group exercising is better as you have encouragement and find it better but with that working against me this is what has lately been helping me:

Wii - Wii Balance Board - Active 2 - Zumba - Wii Fit Plus
Glove Weights - Ankle Weights - Skipping Rope - Yoga - 30 Second Slim

Including anything I find fun helps me to keep at it. I'm exercising alone, I'm my own cheerleader. Honestly when I'm on the Wii Fit I don't know when to stop cos I'm always pushing myself to top my highest score or to complete a game, so I often wake up the next day not even being able to brush my hair.

The one thing I'm focusing more on than anything is of course health more than for vanity/fashion.
High blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart conditions are something that run through my family  ( even though I have been told my blood pressure is too high for someone my age ) and with the high B.M.I I currently have...(obese), I'm at more of a risk so it's better to prevent it now before it's too late. This isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change - simple as, this is a way of life for the better! I have been :-
  • Exercising at least 4 - 5x a week mixture of the various exercises so my muscles don't get use to the routines. Switching it up is always good.
  • Cooking from scratch - ready meals - no, no. Better to know how much salt, sugar, carb intake you are eating. If I understand the ingredients, it's good.
  • Slowly I want to build up to outdoor exercise, vitamin D build-up
  • Find a good combination of Vitamins
  • Be tested for diabetes, high cholesterol and blood pressure as often as I can

It's important to remember this is no race. Getting fit takes time and plateaus will occur as well as weight fluctuation. I'm on a 1500 daily calorie intake. If you eat less calories, I end up putting on weight anything over 1500 is too much and I won't burn it off. Patience and understanding is what this is all about. There is no race, nobody to beat - but the fat. I know people think I'm 'confident, outgoing' but just because I can put on a brave face, share things on my blog and get on with life doesn't mean inside I'm battling demons. The last 5 years I have been at my lowest with some high points and re-finding myself has been a battle. Getting fit to me is more than losing lbs, I'm wanting to find LaaLaa, whose smile is genuine, comfortable with herself, confident with every stride, sociable and feeling epic, because every part of me is exactly that.

Epic!

How do YOU git fit, to feel epic? Share with me below! xo

Sleek MakeUP Flick It & New True Colour Shades SS13

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Sleek MakeUP have released 10 new striking lipsticks to their ever growing True Colour range. Inspired by the the S/S 13 lip trends that are bold and bright shades these colours are bound to keep you right on trend. 6 new sheen and 4 new mattes, with a few names such as succumb, loved up, Russian roulette, dare, tangerine scream still highly pigmented and containing vitamin E to make sure your lips are protected and hydrated.

February 13th sees the release of 'Flick It' eyeliner with three shades :- Royal Blue(limited edition), Purple Aura (limited edition) and Dazzling Black. This is a felt tip precision pen. I haven't used felt pen liner in so, so long! There was this urge to keep going back into the liquid when the colour starts to fade lol but of course with these pens it's not like that. At first I had such an issue with the felt pens, could of been the fact I'm not use to it but after I applied it on top of my eyeshadow, the colour of the tip became faded then I couldn't apply any ink. SO I cleaned the tip by just wiping on tissue paper and left it for a while.

The felt tip does give some precision and flows quite easily when it co-operates. Dazzling Black is a high gloss which is a different take to our normal everyday matte eyeliner. Royal Blue and Purple Aura are matte eyeliners.

£5.99 each available in store and online sleekmakeup.com

Above our two of the ten shades that have just been released, Tangerine Scream and Loved up both sheen lipsticks £4.99 each and are available in store or online www.sleekmakeup.com

Valentines with Lush

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Be Mine £16.50
Valentines is vastly upon us often referenced as the 'card companies holiday'. Whether you are single or in a relationship it can be a time for pampering. LUSH have some products aimed towards the day, such as massage bars, soap, lip gloss and gift boxes.

Tender is the Night £4.50*  · Sex Bomb Bath Bomb £3.50 · From Dusk til Dawn £4.95* · The Kiss lip gloss £5.50*
The massage bars Tender is the Night and From Dusk til Dawn are relaxing in smell & are both vegan. Tender is the Night is a crushable bar, crushes right in your hand. It contains fair trade shea and murumuru butters  instead of cocoa butter while inside the core of the heart is a almond oil, agave syrup, cupuacu and gylcerine while scented with vanilla absolute, ylang ylang and jasmine.

From Dusk til Dawn is designed to stimulate your partner and keep them up from dusk til dawn - get it, ahem. This cone shaped massage bar allows the point to rub out aches, pains and knotted muscles. The smell once again, ahh it's divine sweet wild orange oil & lemon oil, ginseng, ginkgo powder and guarana seed. The bar itself is made out of cocoa and shea butters with moringa oil.

The Kiss, seems such a shame to have a nice scented lip gloss that keeps you wanting to lick it off cos it does taste so sweet, I just can't pin point the scent but it's something so familiar, might be candy floss...I'm not sure.

Sex Bomb Bath Bomb - Not had a bath bomb from LUSH steer me wrong yet. The way the water automatically softens up, makes me wish to have a bath bomb for everyday of the week. I decided to include Sex Bomb within this Lush list because hence the name, flower and soft pink colour that the bath bomb gives. Powdered milk gives the water the soft feel, which is so beneficial to my skin and probably anybodies. Clary sage, jasmine and ylang ylang are the combined scents to relax you for the night ahead
Sex Bomb
The dusky pink water, super smooth water.

Contents of Be Mine : Soft Couer massage bar, Willow soap & Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner
One of the boxes are Be Mine for £16.50 with the above contents it's a little gift for someone as a sweet gesture.

Soft Couer is one of the current ranges of massage bars and has a lighter formula by 20% so you still get the same effects but with less product and made from fair trade cocoa butter. The centre is soft honey & cocoa powder with a cocoa butter, shea butter and almond oil mix while the fragrance is honey I washed the kids.

Willow Pattern Soap the design is inspired by a Korean artist who Lush have worked with in soap sculpture. This is reminiscent of a Willow Pattern china plate. Willow Pattern Soap's base is talc and cornflour which has been included due to it's nourishing properties for dry sore skin. Amazing for this cold weathers effect on some people's skin. This also includes rosewood oil, rose oil and absolute rose.

Ro's Argan Body Conditioner this is my first time using this and it's becoming a quick favourite. Obsessed with argan oil as it is, this has a combination of argan oil, cocoa butter, cupuaçu butter, brazil nut oil, almond oil and fair trade shea butter - packed full of butter and oil goodness. Even has some oji berry juice in there. The one thing you can smell more than anything is the Rose oil which is the featured ingredient.

PAMPERING SESSIONS GALORE AHEAD!
What takes your fancy?

MesmerEyez Silky Grey Contacts

Thursday, January 24, 2013

MesmerEyez Silky Grey One Month Contacts - £14.99*

I first started cosmetic lenses in 2006 but I just couldn't get the hang of putting them in, literally on my mum's wedding day I was in the bathroom trying to get these lenses in, stressing myself out. Last year was the first time I really managed it and enjoyed the experiencing, I know contacts are very hit and miss with people, some don't see the point, some live in them that you don't even know whether it's their real eyes or not.

Betrousse December - January Box

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Betrousse Christmas Beauty Box £9*

This box came a little late as it is their Christmas box but I feel I should still show you lovelies, as the boxes are always available and even more so at a discounted price. So if any of the past boxes interest you snap them up. Within this box, I'm looking at this one as a pamper box for over the Christmas and New Year period.

Charme D'Orient Relaxing Body Massage Cream 100ml £16 - I gave this item to my nan. She's currently getting joint problems so it's better for someone who needs it to get use out of it, so far she's been applying morning & night and feels her finger joints are eased slightly but continual use will see the benefits or not.

Laboratoire LDA Soins Experts Hydra Cream Expert 50ml £34 - One for those with dehydrated skin, need to lock in more hydration, this is a cream. Hydra Cream Experts has Omega 3 and Omega 9, made from natural cosmetics and an efficient anti-wrinkle cream. One I'm not planning to use right now, probably better off for someone with drier skin.

TurboSlim ChronoActive 28 tablets £29.95 - This was included in the very first box I received from Betrousse, honestly I never used them, I still have my first box. I have quite a few of these type of tablets around and I'm a little scared with them, not sure why but I think for people who are into supplements it's a good item.

Skinetica Anti - Blemish 100ml £9.99 - Another beauty box had a smaller sized bottle and I have started to use this with a few blemishes, was quite surprised with the results, I'm currently now waiting on another spot so I can do a full on picture review of this.

Saffron London Cracking Nail Polish 14ml £0.75 - Theme polishes aren't going away and with the cracking polish being one of them that started it all out, it's still something that some enjoy. I was a little sad this was included in the box after it being in the previous box.

Tattyoo Betrousse Tattoo £5 - I do prefer real tattoos ( as you can see ) than transferable ones. Quite fun to give to a younger family member.

Montagne Jeunesse Dead Sea Mud Spa £1.49 - Ah I have quite a bit of these masks, they can be good for a quick boost, never had an issue with them and I previously reviewed this mask here

My opinion on this box - even though there's been a few recycles items and I am using just one of the items. It's been beneficial to my nan with her joints with the massage cream. I'd love to be able to have more of a box aimed towards younger skin, heading into spring.

Don't forget you can get your Betrousse box for £9 at the moment.

ARTDECO - Ceramic Nail Lacquer, Deep Aqua

Monday, January 21, 2013

ARTDECO - Ceramic Nail Lacquer in Deep Aqua £10.25

The first nail polish I have worn so far this year. Talk about the nails needed a feel good boost, this snow isn't turning me into a happy snow bunny. If anything it's making me daydream more than ever.

ARTDECO is a brand I have heard of, not quite sure why I've not tried the brand, yet I have now and so far, so good. Their products are used on some of the countries favourite t.v. programmes, such as Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice and is a choice for celebrities for red carpet events. Within Europe ARTDECO is the number one selling make-up brand outselling, Chanel, MAC and Givenchy - well, that's a feat!

This nail lacquer Deep Aqua is from the Marrakesh Sunset Collection, it's a stunning Peacock blue. The first application was a little sheer and sparse, the second one applied a lot better, so much so I splurged and went for three coats to get a very deep application - ( oh the rebel in me ) I had no issue with the brush, found it easy to use. Deep Aqua was a good choice for those January Snow Blues!

Veya Gold Glitter Shoes

Sunday, January 20, 2013

VEYA GOLD GLITTER PLATFORM SHOES £30.00*

6 inch heels with glitter to leave traces over you.

Nothing makes me feel as sexy as a pair of heels. Granted not all heels are comfortable, the price we pay for feeling and looking gorgeous. I've learnt not to do that. Case in point, Victoria Beckham's feet. I've been out in heels and as soon as they've got uncomfortable, you'll find me in a queue with a new pair of shoes that don't make me wince with each step.

There were a few problems I found with these shoes, I'm a slightly wide footed and being that these are narrow at the toe, I got push up bra toe cleavage and being a size 7 these were slightly bigger, which probably contributed with the cleavage if I'm honest so it made walking, awkward. The correct sizing could possibly banish that.

Sexy pair of shoes, that could spice up any outfit.

Just the tag line alone, solutions for stressed skin, screams out me. During the typical cold months my skin was exceptionally oily - odd huh. What I've liked so much about this brand is the cleanser, left my skin feeling smooth, hydrated and moisturised especially the parts of my skin that were dried out. I've nearly finished this cleanser and I'm ready to purchase the 150ml tube. This really helped to get the dry parts of my face back to normal while still keeping the rest of my combination skin at ease. This cleanser has some of my favourite oils included within the ingredients, coconut oil, olive fruit oil which helps to remove make-up. Shea butter, cocoa butter helps to intensively hydrate the skin, jojoba seed extract, smooths the skin and elasticity. Aloe extract, Vitamin E, Soybean oil are also included, all in this one cleanser - powerful combination and it really does show.

During the night, I did rotate the night cream with my Argan / Vitamin E oil mix, the Oxygen Infustion night cream really compliments the cleanser to keep that hydrated feeling. Containing vitamins A, C and E which helps the skin enhance it's tone, texture and elasticity. The skin didn't feel like I had just dried out the work of the cleanser, it was so smooth, no shine just a nice healthy glow. White willow bark soothes irritation and prevent breakouts while you sleep. I noticed that when I had a few spots after using a face mask that once I used this it helped to calm the inflamed skin by the morning - heaven. The redness went down, the spot was still there but wasn't as noticeable due to the fact the redness went down. The texture is a lot like cold cream, very light, glides on and takes to the skin like a duck on water.

Cream Textures : - Artic Hydrating Balm - Oxygen Infusion Night Cream - Icelandic Relief Eye Pen

I continued to use the cleanser, even once the dried out T-Zone was repaired and while using the Artic Hydrating Balm during the day, the texture is more solid than the night cream, easy to blend out and gives my skin a soft feel while protecting it. Believe me when I say, I'm now scared to use anything else as I've got so use to the texture and how it healed the dry areas of my once oily skin and balanced it out. AH-MA-ZING.

I'm really getting use to using eye creams. Dark circles are becoming the enemy of this face along with a few spot blemishes *shakes fist* so this is my morning eye cream ( yes, I do have a different one for the night time - diva mode ) the texture for this makes it better for the morning, it's more solid in texture than my other cream so it's easier if I am going to put make-up on to do so after I've used this eye cream. This does say that a cooling sensation is normal if it does happen once applied, I've felt this only a couple of times. My dark circles are getting lighter due to also getting better rest combined with the eye cream it's looking better in appearance and touch.

I'm a sucker for my Lush Ultrabland cleanser which is still a staple in my skincare doubt I would ever be without it in my bathroom but Skyn Iceland seriously has me sold, I can't wait to use the rest of this range with the White Cloud Spot Corrector , Nordic Skin Peel and Anti-Blemish Gel already on my wishlist.

skyn ICELAND is exclusively available at Marks and Spencer

Zelens Instant Renewal Mask

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Zelens Instant Renewal Mask £120

As I always say our skin is our foundation, face masks can be a little hit and miss. Some don't claim to do all they say, some break us out, others we just love and live by.

I've heard about Zelens before and the price tag is a hefty one at £120 for a box of 5, 5ml bottles it's one you just in a frugal way, hopes it doesn't become that miracle mask cos it's a repurchase you may look twice at. Free from mineral oils and parabens and suitable for all skin types, it makes it so far a good choice.

Karuna Renewal Eye Mask

Wednesday, January 09, 2013

KARUNA RENEWAL EYE MASK PACK OF 4 £30.00*
Bright eyes, got to love those bright eyes. I wish I had fresh looking eyes, 'all day, urry day'. Why do under eyes have to be just as much a pain in the A, as spots?! I don't really get puffy under eyes a lot but I do get more dark circles *huffs*

Eye masks are aimed to target those things, dark circles, puffiness and fine lines - I might have some ity bitty fine lines. I will try just about anything to help discolouration. Karuna Renewal Eye Mask has ingredients such as an antioxidant mushroom extract, oh yes MUSHROOM! red seaweed and Japanese angelica - those 3 ingredients alone help fight the signs of ageing, while sweet broom extract help decrease puffiness and discolouration. Got to love those multi-purpose butt kicking products.

Cruelty Free Fragrances - Just as hard to find?

Saturday, January 05, 2013

Sweep wasn't too pleased with these.

I've talked about cruelty free make-up a few times but sometimes we forget, fragrance too might not be ideal to those who are cruelty / vegan friendly.

Just as I am with my make-up collection, trying to sort out what's good and bad by my belief stand point, my fragrances need to be sorted out too.

Finding out fragrances that are cruelty free doesn't seem as easy as with some cosmetic brands, a lot don't declare and some our distributed under various Cosmetic houses.

Why I decided to mention this was because I'm still browsing through the sales and I decided to visit House of Fraser to see what fragrance sales they had happening as I wanted to purchase a few ready for the Spring - Summer ( eager beaver ) after taking this quiz and realising I could be purchasing fragrances that aren't cruelty free made me think, more attention has to be made.

Favourites such as Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Hugo Boss, Jennifer Lopez. I did read that Versace does not test and Rihanna's perfume - cruelty free. I'd love if there was a straight fragrance list but with the company changing constantly like Urban Decay being sold to L'oreal? Um hello.

Curl Harmony - Natural Curly Girl Products

Friday, January 04, 2013

Curl Harmony Intensive Repair Deep Conditioner 250ml £14.50, Buttercream 60ml £4.95 , Curl Reviver 60ml £4.50

Was quite ecstatic to say the least when I was asked to review products from Curl Harmony! Nadine Anderson, lovely creator and fellow natural, curly lady is the proud owner of this company. Since ditching her relaxer to go au naturél, it was a task to find natural, curl nourishing products that her hair loved - we've all been there!
I'm trying to get a regimen that works and curl enhancing products are key.

This curly hair sista is trying to get some bounce back on her head. Heat damage is real!

So since cutting off those dead, split ends and readjusting to life with her that hasn't been this short since my teens. It's the perfect time to safely experiment, heat free and build this regimen.

Liz K Color Veil 35ml $35.99*

Here's another review for the Wishtrend panel, this time I've got a BB Cream. There was no doubt that last year BB Cream in the UK became even more of a huge trend but for some reason with me, it was more miss than hit.

So I have always wanted to try BB cream from the true originators of the cream as isn't original always best? When receiving, I was unsure what it was as there wasn't the usual BB Cream written all over it, like you would expect. From reading the tube I thought it might of just been a normal face cream - WRONG! WRONG! It's a BB Cream made in Korea.

Happy New Year.

Resolutions, made to be broken? I guess if we look at it like that, then we will break them. I want to make 2013 a good, positive year. Which means working a lot on myself internally. With anything why do we need to wait for 1st January to start something new? Don't get me wrong I can see why and understand the reasons. I'm going to do the exact same thing lol. Don't think I had one last year, seeing as I can't remember, it's highly likely I didn't.

With each goal, I will be aiming for a milestone, before setting another milestone within that goal!

I'm going to be doing quarterly goals, so I'm going to focus on certain goals for four months before picking up others, ease myself into resolutions instead of overloading myself with them all in one go. Believe me, they will be harder to drop.

Think it's time to re-open my 43 things account.

Are you making any New Year promises, goals?
