Colour By Numbers

Bye August - Hello September!

If you know me well, you'll know I'm such a Boy George x Culture Club fan. I'm a baby of the 80s and a child of the 90s (thanks mum!) two of the best decades to be associated with. To me the 80s represented something that has yet to ever be seen again but I'm grateful enough that it even happened, the make-up, the style, the mash of cultures, have forever been moulded and to me Boy George was one of those. At the forefront of the New Romantic genre, flamboyant, unapologetic and talented.
This was fun to do and it's just so fun to use and wear colours. It's quite funny as within my make-up tower and drawers I've got so many colours but rarely reach for them, boo! So of course this look was inspired and born.
Deets on the Beat:
Using the yellow from my MakeUp Forever 12 Flash Palette as my base I applied onto my lower lid. Pat on a yellow, I chose MAC Cosmetics Pigment -Primary Yellow , pat it on to make it more vibrant. On a smaller brush apply it under the tear duct. From the inner corner up to the brows apply a pink, I used MAC Cosmetics Eyeshadow - Passionate and blend heavily onto the nose downwards, using the small brush from before, the other side I take the Passionate and apply just next to the Primary Yellow.

Taking a blue, I love Stargazer Eye Dust #2 smudge it onto the lower lash line, start from where Passionate ends, blend the outer eye until it's faded. Taking the pink from GOSH Cosmetics 9 Shades - To Play with in Vegas* I went over the brow bone. Using Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner, I wing out my eye, line my waterline top & bottom.

The brows don't have to be truly defined, just bushy and bold, I brushed them upwards with a spoolie and ran GOSH Cosmetics Defining Brow Gel - Black* through them. Finish the eyes off using Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara*

80's make-up base was matte and powdery. I used Illamasqua Matte Primer and Eve Lom Radiance Lift Foundation for my skin base. I took Sleek MakeUP Blusher - Fernberry and ran it across my hairline and a sharp line under my cheek bone, blended it out before going over it with a pink blush (unknown blush in my drawer, sorry!)Dipping back into my MakeUp Forever 12 Flash Palette, I used the pink and gave myself a bright pink pout, any bright matte pink lipstick would do, MAC Candy Yum Yum is one recommendation.

To finish it off and to get quite a powdered appearance, I used VICHY Dermablend Loose Setting Powder under the eyes before finishing off completely all over with Ben Nye Translucent Neutral Powder.
