Do you remember when Lauren Conrad had her The Beauty Department website? If you do, you may not know but Kristin Ess was a co-founder of this site. Kristin Ess is Lauren Conrad's hair stylist and has been in the business 20+ years, she's also had her hands on Lauren Conrad, Lucy Hale & Jenna Dewan to name a few of her regular clients. With so many years in the game, it's only right that shes's got her own hair range, esthetically pleasing and simple, the range is split into collections: Cleanse + Conditon, Restore, Wet Styling, Dry Styling + Finishing, Scalp, Curl & Fragrance Free. Being that my hair is colour treated, I feel extra care is always needed and so I went for products that are needed for my hair treatment.

KRISTIN ESS BUBBLE MASK

"This bubbling scalp mask instantly removes oil, build-up, dead surface skin cells + debris. Use it as a pre-shampoo scalp treatment on dry hair before you shower, then once the bubbles wear off, and you stop thinking about that one childhood candy this reminds you of, get in and wash your hair!"
Can't lie, its quite a fun product with the bubbles. Just like other scalp products, I separate my hair and shake the can, I like to directly apply it onto my scalp but you can pump onto your hands and disperse throughout the hair but I find that way the bubbling happens on the hands. As the bubbles start to dissolve, there's a tingling effect on the scalp which helps stimulate growth and cleansing. I rinsed my hair with lukewarm water and there was no dryness but my scalp did feel pretty fresh.

KRISTIN ESS PURPLE SHAMPOO + SIGNATURE CONDITIONER

"The One Purple Shampoo: I wanted to create a purple shampoo that is great for toning blondes + brunettes and is also sulfate-free... I’ve always had a hard time finding that combo. If you like ashy tones or even pastel lavender tones, you can use this every time you shampoo. If you like neutral tones, use it only when needed to cut brass. The One Signature Conditioner: A condition that's versatile. It’s weightless enough that you can still get a bouncy blowout yet moisturizing enough to nourish where your natural oils can’t reach" I'm used to shampoos without sulfates so it's not a big deal, it has more of a jelly-like apperance as it comes out, it's thicker than other purple shampoo and the shade is rich & it doesn't dry out the hair which I think is so important with colour treated hair especially, lessens the breakage. The conditioner has a nice slip to it, not heavily fragranced and I like to leave it on for a few minutes to give it a bit of hydration and brush it through with my tangle teezer.

KRISTIN ESS RECOVERY BALM

"It’s coconut and castor oil based so the longer you leave it on, the better! I use it for SO many things: a shine product when I do braids, a pre-shampoo treatment when hair feels super-dry. I sleep with it on (you should see the cute bun cap inside - use it to protect your pillow!). I use it to tame fly-aways on damaged hair, to soften and add moisture to edges."
Me & balm sticks have become such good friends but I love the fact that this one is a multi-use product as described above. I find my ends can get dry as the days go on and as I don't wash my hair that often due to hair type, so it's important to keep the ends in good condition to retain length (along with regular trims), the fact this comes with a mini bun cap - Kristin thought of everything - trust me TRY THIS!
