Requested : Eyeliner Tutorial

Sunday, July 31, 2011

I was asked to do a tutorial on eyeliner.
So I thought while I was doing my FOTD I would kill two birds with one stone.

My weapon of choice as of late has been liquid eyeliner these two in particular ...

Bourjois Liner Pinceau 16hr & Rimmel London Glam'Eyes

I love these two due to the very thin applicator, the Rimmel is a lot more thinner out of the two.
The thinner brushes make it so easy for me to build up on what I want.

FOTD / Review featuring MeMeMe Cosmetics

Saturday, July 30, 2011

Finally getting around to using one of two MeMeMe Cosmetics Eye Inspire Catwalk Quad Collection I was kindly sent.

I've previously used baked eyeshadows ONCE before ... I didn't have a good experience due to the fact, it was so stubborn to get the product onto the brush, until I discovered a tip ... score with a pair of scissors, just as you would a new shoe bottom.

D.I.Y. Nail Splatter

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

You can do varied nail designs with just odd bits hanging around the home. A toothpick is one fantastic inexpensive tool.

What You'll Need

Base Coat
Toothpick
2-3 Nail Polishes Colours Of Choice
Top Coat

After trimming my nails and shaping them I applied a coat of Sally Hansen "Be-Long" nail strengthener for a base.

Once dry and re-applied once more I used AVON French Manicure Nail Polish - "White" , this took about two coats. Leave to dry.

Taking one nail colour place a blob in the corner of your nail ; pick up your toothpick and start to flick just like you would if it was on paper to create a splatter effect.

Start adding other colours to splat

Continue until your finished, you could play around with different shades for each finger, change the position of the splatters; have fun :o)

Born Pretty Cracking Nail Polish

Thursday, July 21, 2011

I have another nail art product today from Born Pretty. Cracking Nail Polishes in the last year have been everywhere. Nearly every company you could think of have extended their brand with crackle nail polish.

I decided to test it out alongside two others I currently own :

  • Barry M one seemed to let me down upon application ... it looked more chipped and grungy than normally and it chipped my nail polish underneath - odd.

  • Born Pretty's own nail crackle seemed to give me more of the appearance I was looking for.

  • MUA - Makeup Acadamy cracked a lot bigger and blocked.

Barry M Instant Nail Effects Price : £3.99 ( on middle finger )

Born Pretty Nail Crackling Price : £3.40 ( on index finger )

MUA Nail Quake Price : £2.99 ( on the ring finger )

The chosen colour is black ( I quite wish I decided on another colour now )

After I applied ELF White nail polish : - which was not fully dry at the time & please excuse the messy application. I applied the nail crackle which instantly started to crack and set matte (& quite greyish until a top coat was applied to bring out the black ) that help to set the underneath polish also. It's a fast drying top coat design.

The above design I coated it twice. ... The more I applied I got smaller cracks in the nail art.

To purchase please visit Born Pretty for this & more nail art products : here
& don't forget to use the 10% discount code at the checkout : LMJ61

Do you own or like cracking nail polish ?

Disclosure : This product was sent to me. I have reviewed this product to my satisfaction.

Skincare Update

Friday, July 15, 2011

Beauty is only skin deep right ? Yet we still would love to have that clear complexion and fuss free skin because we feel good deep down when we look at ourselves and feel great about what we see?!

I credited for Lush "Baby Face" *now discontinued.
For helping to clear up my skin alongside Liz Earle's cult favourite Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

Since late 2008 I started to suffer from adult acne, not servilely but to me it was enough after never experiencing spots except the odd one when due on. It was enough to knock my confidence - vain ? Maybe but it's not a nice feeling.
So after my great experience and heartbreak with Lush Babyface cleanser, I turned to the replacement which is Ultra Bland which has kept my spots at bay alongside regular face masks, face steams and making sure makeup is clean & in date alongside making sure I cleanse my brushes too.

Late March on Wahanda they had a deal to get four great steals from Sanctuary :

Sanctuary Perfectly Polished Hot Cloth Cleanser
Sanctuary Warming Microbrasion Polish
Sanctuary Warming Charcoal Detox Mask
Sanctuary Therapists Facial Oil *
*n o t    p i c t u r e d

All for just £20

Bargain. I snapped it up.

The products pictured are in my skincare routine.

I'm adoring the Good Things Miracle Mattifier Moisturiser, I find it's excellent for my skin during my make-up wearing days. I get a nice base to apply my primer and foundation onto

My t-zone has been controlled - hey, can't complain works for me.
The warming products that were included in the Sanctuary mini bundle are amazeballs. The feeling when you put the mask on ... how it reacts between your finger tips and skin is comforting.

My spots have been in control as we know that heat can bring on the spots...
Hopefully, come Autumn / Winter I won't need to change much on the skincare front.
*fingers crossed*

My Summer Acne Breakout Prevention Tips
During summer months there's a lot that can
bring on the summer month acne.
Pollution, Sweat, Dirt, Dust, Chlorinated/Sea Water,
High Temperatures,

But these tips can be for all year round.

  •  Keep your hands off your face. Please resist touching your face during the day, we seem to forget how much we put our hands through and what we touch ... the germs/ dirt on our hands we end up spreading onto our face.
  • Sunscreen ... Yes I am saying put it on no matter what time of the year but even choosing the wrong TYPE of sunscreen can account for a breakout. We can chose an oil-free sunscreen but it might not be great for us all How so? If your skin is VERY oily , maybe a gel based sunscreen will work better for you.
  • Hair products, shampoos and conditioners with panthenol ( an ingredient that nourishes & strengthens hair ) could worsen the problem. When the product is rinsed out of the hair it can clog pores which can contribute to acne.
  • Please make sure you cleanse your brushes and keep your make-up products clean.

Another Month, Another Kardashian Brand Extension

On tumblr I follow Eva Chen who in her own words "I’m the beauty and health director/special projects editor at Teen Vogue."

I noticed this week she had lunch with Khloe & Kourtney Kardashian and had a sneak peak of their new Nicole by OPI collaboration

Kourtney Kardashian is wearing "Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi "

Khloe Kardashian-Odom is wearing "Khloe Had A Little Lam-Lam"

All the names of the shades in the collection

 My Empire…My Rules

Hard Kourt Fashionista
It’s All About the Glam
Khloe had a Little Lam-Lam
All Kendall-ed Up
Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi
Disco Dolls
Follow Me on Glitter

Kendall on the Katwalk
Sealed with a Kris
Kim-pletely in Love

I believe it's a Holiday 2011 release date in the States retailing at $7.99 - If I could get confirmation for a possible UK release I'll keep you informed.

It's quite different to see the two youngest sisters now involved in something ... the next generation is looking to cash in. I know a lot of people think that the Kardashian star is losing it's sparkle but I believe that as long as they have fans/stans around Kris will be able to keep their faces out there.

So Kardashian fans, looking forward to the 14 soon to be released polishes from Kardashian Kolors ?

Project Bathroom

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

While shopping whenever you see a BOGOF or 2 for 1,
Do you acquire several of the same products ?!

Guilty

I do it quite often. Terrible, I have a box with multiple items
and it's hard to get through when I end up topping up the box.

Worst still when I open quite a few of the same products before
even finishing one.

Which leads me to this :

Project Bathroom

You may have seen things such as Project 10 Pan
which means selecting 10 products and using them
until finished ... BEFORE buying anything else.

Hard huh!

Very.

So I have Project Bathroom. It's well needed.
I have chosen my product victims.
It's less than 10 but it's still a serial activity.

I love... Strawberries & Milkshake Shower Gel
Next Super Fruits - Honey & Coconut Shower Drench
The Body Shop Black Velvet Apricot - Body Smoother
Soap & Glory Wash Almighty Detox Spa Body Cleansing Gel
Neutrogena Visibly Clear Spot Stress Control
Soap & Glory Flake Away

It's going to be tough but I will avoid my weakness which is the bath-time sections in stores lol.

If you want to join in or already are doing a Project Bathroom.

Would be fun to see what others are needing to get rid of.

Peace & Love

Dirty Works - Best Foot Forward Foot Butter

Sunday, July 10, 2011

Dirty Works is a brand that has been in Sainsbury's for over a year now  I believe*
Body butters, body scrubs, bath products are available from this range.

I remember when I first noticed this on the shelves I thought :

" Hmm, reminds me of a cheaper Soap & Glory design/concept"

So when my Nan decided to purchase "Dirty Works - Best Foot Forward Foot Butter"on a whim for me after I was complaining I needed another foot cream. I gave it a chance at it's current price £1.99 it was worth a go - right? Right

I love the smell ( coconut oil & shea butter ), the consistancy is nice and smooth and easy to rub in.
Great to lather up on the feet and pop on some moisturising socks and sleep.
Waking up with soft and gorgeous smelling feet.

It was a whim buy by my nan and I'm satisfied with the results.

You go buy online or at your local Sainsbury's

Have you tried any products from Dirty Works ?

Peace &  Love
