Guest Bloggers for October

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

October 13th marks 3 years that I decided to start blogging :] it's flown by. I haven't a clue what I'm going to do to mark the 3 year status but I did want to do some guest posts from others during the month.

Just thought it would be fun, went hand in hand kind of with Beauty Blogger Chain Link, discovering bloggers that I've never come across myself & you may not of either.

I got a couple lined up already but if you would like to guest blog on Dolce Vanity I'd be more than welcome to feature you. The post won't be lost in the top bar you can see the Guest Bloggers page and on there will be description on how to contact me and past guest bloggers with a brief bio and a link to their post :] - fun right.

One blogger who will be featured in October is Andii (MrAJBx3),

I'm real excited to have Andii featured on Dolce Vanity just because I've been wanting to have a bit for the men as really beauty is NOT just for women as we know here's a little about our future guest blogger :

New Changes

Friday, September 23, 2011

I've been so unwell this week it's unbelievable. I went from having a great Monday and then BAM hit with a migraine and its best friend earache.

Wednesday I decided to make a new Facebook Page for Dolce Vanity and I hope you join :o)

Also I want to say yay and thank you for helping me reach over 1000 followers.

There's a new feature on here too :

I decided to give back in a sense. Why have statistics and followers if you can't help others get noticed.

If your interested please check out the link in the navigation bar BBCL or this LINK !!

I think it could be quite interesting to find new blogs or even already established blogs.

The links will go up every Sunday not this Sunday as I'm hoping to build up the links and spread the word more  to get a nice little build up :] but everything takes time.

Once again .. thank you. I appreciate all that you've done to help me with getting Dolce Vanity to this point I could never of believed it. I'm still in shock and just appreciative that I've been  shortlisted.
Makes me feel good :]
{ minus the migraine and earache lol }

Spread the word :] I  would appreciate it.

Kleenex Facial Cleansing Range

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

When you think of Kleenex what's the first thing that comes to mind? Flu ... Cold ... Crying - never really beauty & skincare as such but that is where Kleenex started their brand with beauty. For September they are going back to where it all began.

Using all the traits we know so well with Kleenex they have used unique technology to develop a facial cleansing range :

Kleenex Facial Cloths
COTTON TOUCH
Versatile cloths that can be used in your cleansing, toning bathroom routine. Remove your nail polish on your mani - pedi day, take off your makeup and face masks. I decided to use one last night, the packaging well it reminds me of a fancy tissue box :

I quite like this box, I've never seen anything like it -
Do you know any other brands that have packaging like this?

As for the cotton cloths :

A reasonable size quite strong, when wet it doesn't shed or break - bonus. I'd buy this personally and recommend it.

RRP £1.99 for 30 cloths

Always handy to carry in your handbag or purse while out and about to combat the oil that builds up and removes the shine on your face during the day without disturbing your makeup :]
The Kleenex shine absorbing sheets consist of  :

50 and retailing at RRP £2.99

Suitable for all skin types even sensitive skin quilted wipes that contain natural fibers to provide a gentle and effective cleanse removing all your makeup after a long day.

24 wipes at RRP £2.99

Eye makeup removal wipes that even remove the stubbornness that we call waterproof mascara. These are rectangular in shape and remind me of  wipes that I already own unscented natural baby wipes they are bio-degradable the material is quite thick not easy to rip which is good but they can feel quite drying.

24 wipes at RRP £2.99

This new range is available from Superdrug and other selected stores form September 2011 and in all leading retailers from January 2012

For more information and to view stockists please visit

These products were sent to me by the PR company who held the event. This does not influence my review under any circumstances. I was not paid to review or promote the company. All opinions are of my own :]

When All Else Doesn't Seem To Work, Go Back To Basics

Saturday, September 17, 2011

I love how someone saw this photo & asked me ' Why the long for miss? '

I've been stuck in a rut as of late, finding when I'm forcing myself to be creative or do a look it doesn't come out great so where do you go when you just can't get the creativity flowing.

Back to basics, the neutral look. Decided on gold, brown and a little purple eye, rosy cheeks and light pink lips. Ah the joys of basic to get the juices flowing again lol

Question is what did I use, oh well what else but the ever trusting and forever pushed into your face Urban Decay Naked palette duhh. Alongside the 28 neutral palette.

Sleek MakeUp PPQ Me, Myself & Eye Palette

Friday, September 09, 2011

This morning I got up and decided, I got spare time - I'm going to do an FOTD or EOTD ... then the postman arrived and unexpectedly I notice the Sleek MakeUP packaging and was highly intrigued upon opening I noticed it was another palette, hot off the heels of the Nude collection this palette is alone in it's own right.

The teaming between Sleek MakeUP & PPQ delivers bold and neutral tones mixed with the familiar shimmer and matte textures in the 12 piece palette. This is Sleek's way of letting us be apart of fashion week while they are working in collaboration with PPQ to produce the make-up looks for their London Fashion Week Show on 16th September 2011

The names for these shades are quite familiar see if you can work out the play on the names ....

After applying my chosen eye primer UDPP
I applied Golden Silvers all over the lid, blending it out more on the outer corners to get a gradient effect.

Taken a small tapered brush I applied Primal Green in the crease, remainder of the lid and the outer V, making sure to blend it in well.

Finishing it all of with a winged eye using Rimmel London Glam Eyes - Black Glamour, waterline is Avon Mega Impact gel eyeliner pencil - Black Flash on 1/4 of my lower lash line I smudged in Avon Glimmerstick eyeliner - Majestic Plum. Coating my lashes twice with Boots No7 Exquisite Curl Mascara.

I really hate this picture but it was the best one I could take today *sighs*

On the lips I decided to wear Inglot #222 lipstick with just a small couple of dabs of Avon Glazewear Extreme - Pale Pink Shine while the cheeks got love from two Sleek Blushes Sunrise and Suede.

I want to play with this some more there;s a few colours after swatching I'm desperate to apply due to the colour pay off Simply Red seems to be more than just simple .....

This limited edition palette is available from the 16th September 2011 and will be EXCLUSIVELY online at Sleek MakeUPs Official Website

RRP:£6.49

Peacock Inspired Nails

Tuesday, September 06, 2011

I like to look at my nails as of that being as proud as a peacock. The peacock has such great pride and admirable colours in his feathers that have you attracted to the radiance.

Since growing my nails I take great pride in them, I noticed how many compliments I get and how nice it is, makes me feel attractive - yes my nails do lol.

Currently they are in a state of rehab ''boo'' due to the fact they started to break and I just decided to cut them down a slightly gain the strength back up again.

I saw this on CutePolish via YouTube, fell in love as I was also sent more nail art tools from Born Pretty in the form of 'Dotting Tools' it was a perfect time to make me use them and do something so pretty.

These comes as a 5 piece but each dotting tool has two ends to it with a different sized ball so you can make various sized dots with them. This is the first dotting tool I have ever used and to be honest I'm just getting use to it -- you must be thinking how hard can it really be -- but if you want a bigger sized dot to the biggest sized ball you have it's making that perfect dot without making it gain a disadvantage.  As I said I've never had these before so I can't compare them to any other brand but now I'm getting use to them I quite enjoy learning to make my circles.

You can purchase these from the Born Pretty Store

Disclosure : This product was sent to me. I have reviewed this product to my satisfaction. Please read more on this here

On to the tutorial ...

Apply a basecoat I chose : - Save The Nail - Toughen Up Base. Afterwards I applied two coats of China Glaze - Starboard and left to dry. Taken my biggest dotting tool, I use China Glaze - 2030 and made my circles I had to dot it around to enlarge it with practice it becomes easier.

Choosing to do two shades of green H&M's brand of nail polishes are cheap but so lovely to use :- H&M - No Mambo Jambo was applied on top of China Glaze -2030 with the second largest dotting tool.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri : - Mint Sprint was applied on top with a small dotting tool

China Glaze - First Mate was used to be the centre eye colour applied with the smallest dotting tool. Taking a toothpick I took H&M - No Mambo Jambo and from the centre of First mate took out the bottom to kind of blend it so to speak. Apply a top coat my choice was Save The Nail - 45 Second Coat and ta-daaaaa.

Thanks for reading ....

Glamour Glaze Krispy Kreme

Sunday, September 04, 2011

For those who are in love with fashion you'll know what's just around the corner - London Fashion Week and tying in with that yellow marked highlight in the calendar is a collaboration between Krispy Kreme and Glamour magazine.

This season's collection features the trademark Strawberry Glaze doughnut, synonymous with the GLAMOUR Glaze line, accompanied by a new Orange Glaze doughnut. The Orange Glaze has been created from trend predictions of the upcoming seasons from GLAMOUR's fashion team, who noted the '70s and the bright colour influences as two key themes.

I had the pleasure of receiving a box 12 box of these and besides Krispy Kreme's being delicious full stop the glazing on top of these were mouth watering. I love citrus flavours/smell as it is so the orange glaze was a dream.

Availability : You can purchase yours from your nearest Krispy Kreme UK stores and in-store cabinets from the 29th August until 2nd October.

Price : A single GLAMOUR Glaze at £1.35

One of each of the Orange and Strawberry GLAMOUR Glaze will form part of The Classic Assorted Dozen (12 of Krispy Kreme’s most popular varieties) priced at £9.45

Any number of The GLAMOUR Glaze doughnut can also form part of Your Favourites Assorted Dozen (your selection from any of our range including classic varieties) priced at £9.95
