Matte nails have been a trend for over a year now but in my opinion took a while to really latch on main stream. I've been toying with the idea of investing just because I think when nail polish is glossy it looks healthy and rich so I decided to purchase a cheap matte finisher just to see if I'd want to invest further...

I always pictured that the feeling of them would be dry yet I'm surprised to say the texture is smooth and not dry/rough to feel, I actually prefer the feeling than to glossy nails. It's another trend that not everyone will be feeling but I've jumped on the band wagon & doubt I'll be getting off soon. Well I may wait until my nails have grown back perfectly until investing 100%

Do you like the matte nail trend ?

Jumping On The Matte Wagon

Barry M Lip Paint 121, can you guess what shade it is...

Being me it could only be 'Pillar Box Red'

I really like this Barry M lip paint, it's not drying, very pigmented but like most does transfer and wear off when eating / drinking. So I would recommend a red lip liner all over the lips first but make sure you check your lips for a touch up.

This is my 3rd Barry M Lip Paint after Marshmallow & Vibrant Pink. Yet Marshmallow is not very wearable for me on it's own it's more of a mix and match colour.

Barry M Lip Paints : £4.25 each.
Barry M can be purchased at Boots, Superdrug or at

Do you own any Barry M Lip Paints ? If so which one is your favourite ?

- p.s. currently ill, suffering with a deadly migraine since Monday evening and I have 'swimmers ear' lovely combination. I hope everyone is well :)

Barry M Lip Paint 121

I've had these blushes for a couple of weeks now, taken me awhile to post them.
I ordered them from MeMeMe Cosmetics based on various swatches that I've seen, I chose Coral & Rouge.

I'm happy with the choice that I made....

I find they are very pigmented, especially the coral is vibrant on me, I prefer to use it than a bronzer at the moment.

The one thing I don't like about some blushes is that they fade half way through the day. Leading to the fact that you have to re-apply !! Yet with these they do last through the day - on me anyway. I was never big on blushes before but I'm getting into them I do find they can finish off a look quite well.

I cannot compare this to the Benefit Cosmetics blushes yet I know Blush Me! are based very highly on these blushes right down to the packaging.

Was you curious enough to buy & try 'Blush Me!' ?

Available at Superdrug or the MeMeMe Cosmetics website at the Introductory Price: £6.49

Baby-doll's were are not escaping that lipstick is the statement again for the Autumn / Winter trend. It was all over the catwalks, photo-shoots and make-up collections.

The goth look is chic, I don't think it's the look for the less daring as I went out like this on Thursday I thought what the heck let's try something different and yes I did draw a few long stares.

Berry Reds, Dark Purples & Black - are the shades for this season and I'm quite liking it to be honest.

So I gave it a go, reaching for the Urban Decay Black Palette and my purple lip pencil and dark berry lipstick viola ... this is my FOTD.

Post Title : Iron Maiden "Fear Of The Dark"

FOTD : A Little Anxious When It's Dark

I rarely watch America's Next Top Model any more, matter of fact I haven't really watched a full season in a good few years the season's seem to come within mere weeks of each other now, cannot keep up. Yet I had to start watching season 15 after seeing that André Leon Talley was going to be a guest judge because I think he is 'simply fabulous darling'

Okay reason for this post episode 2 they had a photo-shoot where they had to pose with a negative word that effected them as teenagers to raise awareness of bully as it's the biggest cause of teenage suicides. Surprisingly one of the models ended up with a word that I heard quite a lot as a teenager & younger :

Was a good point that 'bullying names' we were tagged as when younger never have to define us as an adult.

I'm very proud to be bi-racial, it's never been a problem for me it's only been for the insecure people around me.

Bully Word

The end of August I received a Sigma Makeup Travel Kit in Pink

• Duo Fibre - F50 - Specially designed to generate an ‘airbrushed’ finish when used to apply liquid foundation. It can also be used to apply blush, highlight shades and loose pigments. Blend of synthetic and natural bristles.

• Large Angled Contour - F40 - The angled shape makes this brush ideal to apply blush or contour shades. Natural bristles.

• Eye Shading - E55 - Soft and dense with a rounded finish. Can be used to apply pressed or loose eye shadows and pigments. Ideal to build intense colour on the eyelid. Natural bristles.

• Concealer - F70 - The rounded, tapered, flat shape makes this brush ideal to conceal the under eye area. It is also recommended for a precise application in small areas. Synthetic bristles.

• Tapered Blending - E40 - Rounded and tapered top. Specially designed to apply and blend colour on the crease. Natural bristles.

• Pencil - E30 - Precise application of colour on the crease, outer corner, and upper and lower lash line. Also ideal to smudge out pencil liner. Natural bristles.

• FREE Foundation - F60

I have been wanting to try Sigma brushes for a long time now. So I am very grateful that I get to try their brushes !! I found that having these travel brushes are quite handy. I don't particularly like to touch up my make-up while I'm out and about but sometimes it is needed! I found that these brushes are handy to have in your handbag.

I started to trade in my Royal & Langnickel foundation brush for the Sigma F50 as I found I used less foundation and yes the foundation did look better using a stipple brush.

They recommend that you pre-wash your brushes before use, which I did and never noticed any shedding or when using. But I did notice some colour run from the black into the white where it goes a bit grey but unless your studying the brushes -( which I was lol ) you wouldn't notice much.

( Eyeshadow & Eyeliner from Urban Decay Naked Palette )

I used primarily just the sigma eyeshadow, pencil & blending brush so what one did I have issue with ?

Unfortunately the pencil brush had quite a bit of shedding, it did shed a bit when I washed it before use. I was looking forward to using the pencil brush shame about the shedding wasn't a fan of having some of the bristles in my eye.

The blending brush reminds me of an angled contour brush ( shape wise ) I find it blends well but if you want a more precise blend might want a more tapered smaller brush.

The eyeshadow brush was one I didn't have problems with nor the actual foundation brush, I tend to find that unless they shed all foundation brushes can be the same. The only one I haven't tried is the concealer brush due to the fact, I don't own a concealer at the moment -( on the hunt for one *sighs )

------------ Other Brushes ------------

The powder brush is very firm & soft, I quite like the powder brush and would recommend it.

Angled contour brush is quite firm at the base and soft, you know you can get brushes and they can be quite flimsy all around and don't keep the shape, I experienced no fall either with use or when washing.

So you have the essential brushes that you need but did they all work enough for me while out ?

Duo Fibre brush has to be the winner in the pack along with the powder brush. I was quite disappointed about the pencil brush but they are still handy to have out with you for a slight touch up when needed.

How Is The Quality Of The Brushes : I'd give the quality a 4.5 / 5 the only reason I took a half point of was due to the shedding but I've encountered worse brushes that are rough and feel more like torture to use than an ease and nice experience to apply make-up.

Ease Of The Use : They are easy to use being like I said they are soft, they have kept their shape after washes.

How Useful Are These Brushes : Quite. Handy to pop into your bag when your going out !! Even just to have as a first mini kit, there are key brushes in there so it's a value for money.

Packaging : Compact and tidy. You have your compartments for your brushes to sit and even a zip area to keep any little other bits such as a small mirror or eyeliner etc. It's got an inside magnetic closing which I personally love as it keeps the bag looking clean and all one look

Overall Thoughts : I am happy with them. Minor shedding but you can get that with other brushes too so I can't hold that against Sigma at all. That could of been one out of a bunch or good pencil brushes. I'm thinking of investing into more sets as I'd like to see how the rest hold up. Yet this is one to keep for me, perfect for a gift, keep in your bag or just to do your day to day makeup.

I'm still trying to be very giving to my skin so back to Lush I went and decided on getting another cleanser " Angels On Bare Skin ". If you read my previous post on skincare you would notice that I am already using an almond oil mixed blend and it seems to be doing my skin some justice.

So why not include a cleanser that's ingredients have almond. Almonds help to gently exfoliate the skin, clearing away dirt and dead skin. Lavender is extremely soothing for the skin.

Now the only problem that I have is I despise the smell of Lavender it just doesn't sit well with my stomach. So that's the only throwback for me but that doesn't take away the fact that it leaves my skin feeling very smooth and fresh.

Angels on Bare Skin is the Lush version of an expensive medieval skincare recipe. Rare, precious essential oils were first brought to Europe by the crusaders who encountered Arabian medicine. - source : Lush

When it goes onto the skin, just massaging it in you can feel it working with your skin. It gently exfoliates without irritating the skin.
I've used it every morning since I purchased it last week and I love how the dry spots on my skin seem to be softening up quite a bit.

LUSH | Angels On Bare Skin

I've mentioned a few times that I am embarking in a new skin regime so now I can get into it finally. I've decided to try a lot more natural products so the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) is the way to go I think for now.
I was using the Body Shop Tea Tree collection. It worked for awhile but it started to dry out my skin and inflamed spots even more and that's not what I want.

The area just by my eye and going onto the top of my cheekbones seem to be dry and my T-Zone can sometimes be oily & my skin is very sensitive to certain things so this combination can be very irritable especially when using certain things.

The only breakouts I get are on my right cheek, my left jawbone and my chin* & forehead* ( *around my time of the month )

What Is The Oil Cleansing Method ?

This method goes by the theory of 'oils dissolves oils' The oil cleansing method is basically cleaning one's face using oils. The basic method is a mixture of 80% extra virgin olive oil & 20% castor oil. The mixture can be changed for different skin types & / or personal preference. Oily skin can make use of a larger amount of castor oil. Other common oils used are sunflower oil, jojoba oil & coconut oil.

I know people think that it's oils that cause acne and I find that to be untrue. The OCM helps dissolve oil & draw impurities and toxins from within the skin. Acne is caused by Improper cleansing, Dirt, Dust, Bacteria & Hormonal Imbalance.

People with Oily & Acne prone skin will benefit the most from this method, But you have to be careful with choosing the oils to mix, they have to be right for you skin type.

The right oil & right percentage of mixture needs to be discovered which could take some time.

What are the benefits?

Glowing skin
Soft & smooth skin
With regular use it will give you clear and radiant skin
Fewer blackheads
Less acne

The Right Oils To Use :
The Oil Cleansing Method Website has a suggestion guide for certain skin types :

Oily Skin: Try a blend of 30% Castor Oil to 70% Sunflower Seed Oil.
Balanced Skin: Try a blend of 20% Castor Oil to 80% Sunflower Seed Oil.
Dry Skin: Try a blend of 10% Castor Oil to 90% Sunflower Seed Oil.

I have even found other suggestions on what blend of oils you can also consider:

Normal Skin: Extra Virgin Olive Oil & Jojoba Oil
Dry & Dehydrated Skin: Extra Virgin Coconut & Oil Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Castor Oil
Oily and Acne Prone Skin: Jojoba & Grapeseed Oil or Watermelon Seed Oil
Sensitive Skin: Apricot Kernel Oil & Jojoba Oil.

What did I choose for my mixture ?

I chose these oils based on what I felt would be good for me.
Sweet Almond Oil is rich in vitamins such as A, B1, B2, B6 and E is nourishing and protective for the skin. Calms skin irritation, helps relieve irritation, inflammation and itching.

Jojoba Oil contains myristic acid which has anti - inflammatory action. It is quickly absorbed & is great for dry and mature skins as well as inflamed conditions.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil contains protein, minerals and vitamins and can be used in a variety of ways, hair care, cosmetics, nail & hair care. It also helps inflamed or acne skin, bruises and sprains.

Castor Oil is an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant oil. It's great for uses such as sunburn, abrasions, acne, dry skin, boils, warts, stretch marks, liver/age spots, athletes foot and chronic itching and inflamed skin.

Side note: Wrinkle Treatment

Castor oil is a natural emollient that penetrates the skin and helps stimulate the production of collagen and elastin which can soften and hydrate the skin. Therefore, castor oil is a wonderful natural treatment for wrinkles since it restores and rejuvenates skin's natural youthful appearance by making skin smoother, softer and pliant. Dip a small cotton ball into pure Castor oil and apply it on wrinkled skin before going to bed. Use only a small amount of oil when applying it to the skin near the eyes.
I bought 280ml plastic bottles and 100ml bottles of castor & jojoba oil and it will last so you don't have to buy extremely big bottles because once mixed and when you pump you only need to probably pump once or twice onto the cotton pad to do your entire face.

Routine :
This routine is done only in the evening before bed.

•I remove my eye makeup if any -( some OCM website say it's not needed as the oil removes any traces )
•Apply 1-2 pumps amount into my palm I rub the mixture together to warm it up and gently massage onto my face
•Taking my time to focus on any troubled areas on my face and really massage the oil into the pores
•Once satisfied that I've spent enough time massaging and getting the oil into my skin, I take a clean wash cloth and let it soak into warm water -( the water must be warm enough to open up our pores )
•I apply it onto my skin and hold it there until it begins to cool down
•Gently wipe away the oil and rinse and clean the wash cloth & repeat the step 2-3xs - ( resist scrubbing your face)

I don't repeat the steaming steps every night as I don't want to add too much heat to my skin. I just do it once and the continue.

In the morning your face should still feel soft and cleansed. They say all you need is a quick wipe over with a washcloth as we don't want to over cleanse our skin.
