Seaweed Bath Therapy.

I’m sure the idea of laying around in seaweed isn’t the ideal bath time, yes, I wrote seaweed. After being introduced earlier this year to the benefits to seaweed I decided to get some of my own to try. Seaweed is said to have anti-ageing properties and even reduce cellulite. If you suffer from skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, seaweed can help soothe these problems and not to forget it has antiseptic properties so it’ll help to heal any bites or soreness occurring on your skin.
Rich in minerals, vitamins and amino acids such as, vitamin C & K, pantothenic acid, copper, zinc, riboflavin, folate, calcium, magnesium, manganese and iron – phew!!
If you're fortunate enough to live where there's some good ol' seaweed readily available to sit in while at the sea - you're lucky. I decided to search on eBay and find some seaweed I come across the Wild Earth Spa whose seaweed is wildcrafted from the west coast of Ireland, I ordered seaweed kelp and powder, the seller of the eBay store is amazingly helpful and friendly so if you need further information just send a message! The powder is to be used for a body wrap & bath use. I’ve used the kelp that comes in an organic muslin bag, simply by adding the bag to the bath and soak for 15 – 20 minutes to get the best out of it. The bag begins to swell as water is absorbed, the water goes a murky colour which is natural. Of course, seaweed is going to remind me of the sea – that fish smell, “Am I going to come out from this bath smelling like a fisherwoman!?” Surprisingly – no. What makes this even better is the bag can be used as an exfoliating treatment with the seaweed kelp still inside, exfoliating with seaweed – different. It’s non-abrasive, making it good for all skin types even those with sensitive skin. The seaweed can be used for up to two treatments but it does need to be put in the fridge and used within two days. I threw my seaweed into the garden which is advised. Natural and eco way of getting rid of it. To use the powder in the bath, simply add a desired amount and swirl into the water to allow it to disperse and soak up the detoxing benefits. I will add mine with Epsom salts – double up the benefits of a detox. If the smell of the seaweed gets to you try experimenting with ratios with essential oils.

Have you ever tried seaweed in a bath treatment?
