Makeup & Martinis : Take The Shine Off

Wednesday, July 08, 2009

One of the most asked questions I hear every day is how to maintain a matte look.

Combination and Oily skin makeup wearers have the hardest time when it comes to wearing makeup. Within 20 mins from washing your face you notice your skin looks really dewy, and you overload your face with powder to keep the matte look. Trust me, I understand your dilemma when working long days and traveling from state to state.

Here are a few makeup items that can help you keep that matte look throughout the day....

M.A.C. Cosmetics Blot Powder-Make sure you always press it on because wiping will remove the foundation. Take the puff and turn it upside down that way you don’t add bacteria into the product. $21.00 www.maccosmetics.com

Smash box Anti-Shine Powder Gel- Before foundation, use this item on your T-zone. It also works well if you place it around your lip line to hold your lipstick color. $27.00 www.sephora.com

Cargo High Defintion Mattifier-It’s great for someone with very oily skin and enlarged pores. Gives instant gratification. Works well as a primer before applying foundation. $24.00 www.sephora.com

YSL Matt Touch Foundation- This is a great item because it really leaves the skin matte but not dull or dry looking. $48.00 www.yslbeautyus.com

I love blot powder.. it really does dull any shine!

TIP: With Blot powder it is in my opinion best to use with a fluffy brush, because the pad leaves spot like patches. Which gets annoying. A brush gives even dispenses.
Thanks for recommending other products. I will look into them!

I have got a weird skin type because I cannot have a matte look. My skin is already so matte that I am always trying to get the dewy look! It is annoying!
But I have Mac Blot and I like them!

Tali,

I have to have blot powder in my personal bag everyday, can't leave home without it. Warm days I combine matte gel and blot powder. The best part about having oily skin is less wrinkles when we get older:))))

Phuk Meh,

Yes, it's better to use a brush then the pad because the pad leaves all the dirt and oil from your face in the powder leaving that wet mark which later turns into bacteria underneath. If someone must hold on to there pad I always suggest turning it upside down.

But your doing a good thing keep using your brush!

Catanya,

Your one of the lucky ones:)) Not having to deal with the dewy look everyday all day. A blot here in there is all you will need.

To get the dewy look just use a cream blush or a liquid highlighter, both can be found at a SEPHORA store.

Thanks for this cause I have oily skin and haven't found foundation that helps to cover it up so I'm going to look into the mac blot power ;)
